Job Summary:
Electrical Engineer I is a contributor to the plan and executes electrical designs for new and existing tools, electro-mechanical systems, and hand-held electronic test equipment.  This position supports the assembly of life saving devices.  

Organizational Relationships:

This position reports to the Manufacturing Manager.  Our engineers work closely with other functions across the business including product management, operations, and marketing, as well as outside vendors.


Responsibilities:

 


  • Applies electrical engineering theory and the operations of electronic test equipment to design and functionally test and troubleshoot electrical systems/printed circuit boards or systems.
  • Support production team tasked with assembly, calibration, and testing on electronic test equipment.
  • Diagnose issues and develop solutions to ensure world class production
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer needs and application requirements in relevant product categories
  • Translate customer needs to functional requirements and initial concepts
  • Work closely with product managers, other engineers, designers, and technicians to achieve functional product objectives on time and within budget
  • Partition complex systems into manageable design blocks
  • Organize engineering tasks to meet completion dates and technical specifications
  • Evaluate progress with assembly team and assist in training employees on through-hole and surface mounted soldering and soldering repair as required to ensure successful execution
  • Test cage work
  • Perform all duties within Emerson’s Code of Conduct
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

 

Education and Experience:

Required Qualifications

·       1+years of experience in electrical engineering, design prototyping or electrical repair or similar

·       A Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, or related discipline is required.     Experience in electrical engineering or a related environment is mandatory for this position.   

Preferred Qualifications

·       Background in manufacturing environment or similar environment and related skills

·       Ability to work independently and solve ambiguous electronic production issues

·       Experience designing and building electronic test equipment, programmers and manufacturing aids

·       Strong computer and software skills and troubleshooting ability

·       Comprehensive understanding of electrical engineering principles

·       Interest in developing Test and Measure Meters

·       Knowledge of analog/digital circuit design (instrumentation/test measurement), micro-controllers, programmable logic devices (CPLD) electronic test equipment

·       Candidate should have experience with basic meters, scopes, spectrum analyzers and test equipment

·       Preference will be given to candidates with prior knowledge and experience with one or more of the following: instrumentation, motor controls, software design, user interface of industrial equipment

·       Additional experience in the following is also preferred: automation, PLC development (ladder logic and structured text), HMI development, servo and stepper motors, multiple axis systems, motor tuning, control cabinet layout, motion control, power electronics and machine safety

 

 

Physical Requirements:

Some travel may be required. The ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
