Job Description:

The Head of Mortgage Processing provides leadership and expertise and is responsible for driving mortgage processing pipeline production, turn times, quality & compliance across 3 global locations with ~150 direct & indirect professionals in a complex private wealth environment. The role requires the ability to deal with complex business challenges, tight deadline, competing priorities and interaction with the senior management team. The individual must have a proven track record of managing in a mortgage operation with expertise in all areas, including mortgage regulations. In addition to managing the day to day operations and team direction, the qualified candidate will also drive strategic implementation of process automations.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for overall management and oversight of a major portion of the Processing Operation function within a WM Mortgage Operations, including planning, strategy, structure, budget and resource allocation

• Responsible for strategic and tactical improvements to operating model, process, staffing and technology

• Address and resolve escalated issues from staff and business partners

• Manages and directs overall team activities and monitors progress

• Develops and implements operational plans, actions and programs in support of long-term business objectives and within budget

• May manage multiple functions and or sites

• May present business updates to LOB Executive Managers

• A highly visible role interfacing with front office, line level staff, tech & senior stakeholders that is responsible to manage day to day production through reporting and quality metrics

Business Execution - Prior mortgage experience preferred; Knowledge of all mortgage processes preferred, including processing, closing, funding and underwriting; Excellent verbal and written communications skills; Ability to collaborate with and influence various stakeholders.

People Management - Prior experience managing teams is required; Ability to coach and provide meaningful feedback to employees; Demonstrated ability to foster an open working environment.

Client & Customer Focus - Analytical and problem solving skills; Ability to identify trends and improve processes for both the customer and the business.

Risk & Controls - Understanding of regulatory/legal landscape related to the mortgage process; Ability to work with audit, compliance and regulatory constituencies to manage work in accordance with established procedures and relevant regulations and laws; Demonstrated accountability for work processes and the associated risks and controls; Demonstrated ability to raise issues to relevant stakeholders or management with respect to the control environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required; MBA or related Master's Degree is a plus

• Minimum 15 years of hands-on operations experience, mortgage experience preferred

• Minimum 10 years of management experience including complex, geographically dispersed teams

• Demonstrated experience managing and collaborating with multiple teams, coordinating across different cross-functional initiatives, and reaching consensus with diverse stakeholders

• Ability to move initiatives forward in a cross-functional and matrixed organizational model

• Strong team player with ability to work with teams at all levels of the organization

• Vocal in challenging business-as-usual operating models and recommending innovative improvements

• Ability to work independently and professionally interact with key stakeholders

• Excellent analytical skills, communications and presentation skills

• Proven track record of formulating innovative ideas and delivering complex, large scale initiatives

• Excellent judgement and independent decision-making ability
