An Underwriter III analyzes, negotiates and prices workers’ compensation exposures on new and existing businesses in compliance with company underwriting and pricing. At this level, the incumbent is responsible for larger and more complex accounts with increased levels of loss severity. The ideal candidate will excel in decision making and data gathering and analysis.
In this role, you will:
• Be responsible for profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business in support of company goals and objectives by independently managing all account activities for routine to complex, high exposure accounts.
• Analyze worker's compensation accounts to make decisions based on individual risk characteristics, exposure analysis, hazard recognition and controls.
• Within delegated authority levels, accept or modify new and renewal business to ensure a profitable book of business.
• Build and develop ongoing relationships with individual insureds or agents to discuss market appetite, quality, and profitability of submissions, service standards and underwriting and/or product changes.
• Educate insureds or agents about Company products, services, and underwriting philosophy.
• Assist less experienced underwriters in the analysis and pricing of high hazard or more complex accounts.
Education & Experience
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree or CPCU preferred.
• 4 years of business office experience. Insurance industry experience preferred. Advanced education may be considered in lieu of work experience.
• 2 additional years of professional-level experience underwriting property and casualty insurance required. Worker’s compensation insurance underwriting experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to obtain Oklahoma issued Property and Casualty Producer license
Other Requirements
This position requires the physical ability to perform extensive repetitive motions in using a computer and the routine use of other office equipment. Work is typically performed while sitting and does not require heavy lifting.
