Maintenance Technician

OVERVIEW

This position provides maintenance support (Electrical and Mechanical) for equipment unavailability issues (breakdowns) and Preventative Maintenance of equipment throughout the facility on a daily basis.This position will also be required to support various improvement projects and other initiatives throughout the facility. As a fully qualified multi-skilled maintenance technician this person will perform a variety of assigned and/or self-initiated repair or upgrade work, this position will have minimum supervision, reporting to the Maintenance Manager.

Areas of focus are in mechanical, electrical, electronics, PLC programming, controls, process understanding, and rolling stock.

This is a rotating, 12 hour shift position, requiring the ability to work nights and weekends as the schedule rotates.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Champion for Safety, promote a safe working environment and Safety leader

  • As shift multi-skilled maintenance technician, successful candidate must:

    • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and make required repairs/corrections, electrical or mechanical issues

    • Install and/or repair complex systems with associated controls and interfaces

    • Install and/or repair safety devices / interlocks / proximity cables / photo eyes / etc.



  • Document equipment drawings, to help maintain equipment history files, ensuring accurate/current machine data

  • Takes the initiative in becoming familiar with equipment changes in order to perform quick and accurate repairs

  • Must be able to maintain regular and professional communications with all team members; peers, supervisors, engineers and managers

  • Possess a working knowledge of all process equipment throughout the facility

  • Adheres to all plant policies and standards regarding attendance, breaks, hours of work, appearance, housekeeping and any other items necessary to maintain efficient operations.

  • Keeps work areas, tools and equipment in clean - orderly condition.


PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five years plant Maintenance experience

  • Forklift - Boom Lift operation


Work Environment/Physical Demands:
  • Physically capable of lifting 50 pounds unassisted

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Extensive knowledge of 24V, 230-460V 3-phase electrical circuits

  • PLC skills, troubleshooting and basic programming (Allen Bradley 500 PLC)

  • Troubleshooting skills - both electrical and mechanical

  • Basic welding - fabrication skills

  • Effective written and oral communication skills

  • Able to work well with minimum supervision, prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures

  • Basic computer skills (MS Office - Internet web browser)

  • Utilize CMMS system to track time, document work orders, order parts, enter data into system as needed
