Primary Function of Position:
Contributeyour manufacturing and organizational skills to a dynamic development andmanufacturing team that creates sensing platforms for minimally invasiverobotic surgery. The role requires close interaction with the manufacturingteam, providing real-time support for any manufacturing issues. The role will also ensure manufacturingschedules are satisfied and will perform manufacturing operations as needed.
Thecandidate must be able to coordinate their efforts with the manufacturingengineering and management teams, and be able to report progress and possibleschedule risks. He or she must excel in a high-energy team environment and becapable of making sound decisions when faced with the time pressures andincomplete information typical of new product development and early stagemanufacturing environments
Rolesand Responsibilities:
Ensure alignment of manufacturing team with respect to defined weekly manufacturing schedules
Develop and maintain understanding of all manufacturingprocesses
Perform manufacturing operations on the line as needed
Provide immediate support of manufacturing issues, escalating to manufacturing engineering as needed
Perform SAP operations related to manufacturing, including opening/closing work orders and opening/closing PLs and NCs
Maintain organization of manufacturing line and support reorganization efforts as needed
Perform inspections on the manufacturing line to ensure the highest level of quality
Workclosely with Manufacturing Training to ensure a well-trained and flexibleworkforce is developed and maintained
Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives with Engineering and Quality teams
Lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives
Support experiments lead by manufacturing engineering
Perform design for manufacturability assessments. Provide suggested changes and tooling concepts to Engineering during early design phases.
Submit ECOs for manufacturing process and material changes.
Review ECOs that affect the manufacturing line, supporting implementation efforts.
Perform validations and re-validations of validated equipment/fixture/tooling(EFTs), writing reports and releasing on ECO or equipment event (EE).
Resolve EFT issues (escalating to manufacturing engineeringas needed) and document on equipment event (EE) as applicable.
Perform testing on candidate manufacturing software releases .
Identify and implement continuous improvement projects with respect to first pass yield, cycle time reduction, product reliability, capacity enhancement, and cost reduction.
Upgrade EFTs on the manufacturing line as a result of releasedchanges.
Support testing of newly developed EFTs
Skills,Experience, Education & Training:
BS/MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Systems Engineering, or similar discipline.
Minimum 2+ years of experience as design, process, manufacturing or similar engineering field with mechanical, electromechanical, or electro-optical content.
Must possess strong communication skills to interface with technicians, product development, planning, purchasing, regulatory, and management teams.
Prior responsibility for process, equipment or product validation/verification.
Prior experience with complex device manufacturing is a plus
Previous experience with ERP systems (preferred SAP) is a plus
Experience in an ISO 13485, ISO 9001, or medical device manufacturing environment a plus
Occasional travel to the other ISI offices may be required
May be required to work rotating schedule to provide coverage for evening and/or weekend shifts
