2nd Shift Mixing Operator - CCOS - Mixing at Griffith Foods

Job Description:



Purpose of the Position:




 




Responsible for mixing ingredients according to working instructions, mixing BOM within quality and safety standards.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:






  • Verify correct ingredients and correct amounts are staged for the batch run.



  • Placing ingredients in a mixer for processing.



  • Check to see if re-work should be added to the batch and add accordingly.



  • Follow BOM dump sequence.



  • Set-up sifter for product discharge pulls if required, ensuring correct screen size and magnets are in place. 



  • Filling, weighing, labeling, and sealing product.



  • Clean and wash mixers, screens, and magnets between batches or as specified.



  • Dismantle and clean any accessories and equipment between batches.



  • Collect samples for lab testing; run viscosity testing on a certain product.



  • Remove trash and keep the area clean of clutter and standing water.



  • Document activity on production report or RF (barcode system).



  • Communicate any “out-of-norm” occurrences. 



  • Set-up staged and batched products.



  • Observe safety rules and wear personal protective equipment.



  • May manually pack/fill drums and/or pails as required.



  • May operate a forklift as required.



  • Reports any product quality deviations or mechanical failures.



  • Cleans work area and equipment at the end of the shift.



  • Complete all BRC training defined and made available for the currently assigned role.  Responsible for attending all training made available assuring full understanding of the training and have the ability to perform trained activities.



  • Responsible for the coordination and review of specific functional area BRC criteria.  Ensure BRC protocols are implemented and audited as required. Ensure Food products meet safety, quality and legal requirements




 




Knowledge and Experience:




 






  • Education and/or Experience



    High School Education/GED; one-year related experience or training and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.





  • Communication Skills



    It is essential to have excellent communication skills, verbal and written.  Ability to read and follow written work instructions.





  • Computer Skills                                



    Perform limited data entry into the manufacturing software system





  • Mathematical Skills



    Must have basic math skills to add, subtract, and divide.                     





  • Reasoning Ability                             



    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.





Other Qualifications                         



Must be able to complete the company’s Forklift Certification program

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 200 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.



 



Environmental Concerns




     




    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock.  Floors are wet. The use of sharp knives is required to open bags, cartons, and drums.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.  Dust and odor present in the environment.
