UNFI Distribution Center Fort Wayne distributes pallets of grocery product to grocery stores.

The essential function of the Truck Mechanic A is to maintain the trucks used for distribution. This involves routine preventative maintenance such as inspection and servicing as well as corrective maintenance when equipment is out of service. There are numerous large mechanical and hydraulic parts that they are required to lift and install. These parts range from very small parts weighting less than one pound to wheels weighing in excess of 100 lbs. Parts are handled at heights ranging from floor level to chest level. Mechanic must be skilled in hydraulics, mechanics, and electrical assemblies. 

1. Must be certified on brakes, steering and suspensions.

2. Must have knowledge and use of Diagnostic Tools, able to repair or replace internal and external Engine parts, Transmissions, Rears.

3. Must have a minimum of four years mechanical experience in related mechanical field or technical training and two years experience.

4. Must have all hand tools required for applicable areas.

5. Must be able to diagnose failure and possible failures of all road equipment.

6. Must be able to repair and rebuild diesel engines, computer systems, drive trains, brakes, suspensions and steering, air systems, and electrical systems without supervision.

7. Must be able to read manuals, work orders, etc. and accurately complete daily paperwork.

8. Must be able to perform quality work and quantity production.

9. Must be able to handle after hour call outs.

10. Must know all disposals of waste and recycling requirements of the shop.

11. Must have hazardous material training.
