Position Overview :

The software engineering manager will be responsible of a team of 6. Will be responsible of setting the goal for the team members aligning to operational goals. Typically does not have budget accountability, but may manage day-to -day elements of the budget (e.g., overtime for staff). The Software engineering manager will be responsible for making improvements of processes, systems or products to enhance performance of the job area.

Knowledge and Experience

Understands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution.

Typically requires advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.

Supervises a team consisting of professionals, typically at the entry or experienced level.

Leads, directs and reviews the work of team members in order to accomplish operational plans and results.

Provides primary input to hiring, termination, promotion, performance and rewards decisions for direct reports.

Plans, designs, develops and tests software systems and/or applications for software enhancements and new products.

Basic qualifications :
-
Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and prior relevant experience.

Managerial or team leading experience
-
Knowledge and experience with agile development methodology to develop user-level applications on a variety of platforms including desktop operating systems (Windows, Linux, Mac) and/or mobile operating systems (iOS, Android). Works at any level of the application stack for different users of the product (IT vs corporate user).

Experience with virtualization technologies and techniques to develop operating systems, device drivers, utilities, and software; development tools (e.g., assemblers, compilers, etc.) for different operating system architectures (Windows, Linux, Mac OS), driver development, experience with inserting (""hooking"") custom code into normal operating path in order to modify operation of platform. Requires knowledge of hardware platform architectures, reverse engineering, low-level debugging and instrumentation techniques.
