Amerisure is currently recruiting for a Senior DevOps Engineer that will be located out of our Farmington Hills headquarters but has flexibility to sit remotely as well. The ideal candidate will also possess the following skill set. 

Summary Statement

Deliver on our DevOps Transformation Roadmap as set forth by IT leadership. Work with development and IT operations teams to deliver capabilities and functionality that drastically improve our development experience. Partner with our DevOps Community of Practice to champion the adoption of agile software engineering practices to maximize flow, reliability and innovation.  Work both individually and in small groups to develop and implement new solutions to enable rapid experimentation and delivery.

Essential Tasks/Major Duties


  • Design and implement build, deployment, and configuration management systems.

  • Prototype, build, support and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines for multiple application stacks (Java, C#, PL/SQL, etc.). Additionally, keep underlying pipeline technology current and secure.


  • Act as DevOps Subject Matter Expert: establishing the processes and tools to be used; fostering IT-wide maturity, adoption of software engineering best practices and provide technical guidance for teams.

  • Ensure DevOps strategy and enablement are aligned with business and IT strategic objectives and technology standards.

  • Implement a Test Data Management and Automation strategy to include new tooling and re-architecting systems to support test data creation and automation.

  • Stay on top of technology trends and make recommendations to support continuous improvement; Anticipate and manage technology evolution and relate it to business solutions.

  • Influence and lead adoption of modern software engineering practices and platforms through training, mentoring and coaching.

  • Work with customers and stakeholders to understand critical success factors and key performance indicators to be managed, negotiating desired service levels while managing technical risks.

  • Perform Windows and Linux Server service configuration and scripting in support of DevOps enablement.

  • Develop scripts to automate workflows, radiate status and visualize work-in-progress.

  • Collaborate across teams on adoption of agile methodology, tools and practices.

  • Support the strategic planning and estimation process to ensure adequate staffing, funding and process work required to implement our strategy effectively.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent years of experience or graduated from a certified coding bootcamp.

  • Minimum 5 years of application development (C# or Java preferred) and/ or infrastructure management experience.

  • Demonstrated experience driving results and influencing strategic outcomes.

  • Demonstrated project development and leadership skills.

  • Experience with Azure DevOps or similar integrated continuous delivery platform.

  • Experience with public cloud environments such as Azure and AWS.

  • Familiarity with modern cloud-native development models and integration architecture.

  • Working knowledge of Databases (Oracle preferred) and SQL (PL/SQL or ODI preferred).

  • Expertise in Enterprise DevOps solutions with emphasis on Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.

  • Experience in Agile Software Engineering capabilities such as eXtreme Programming technical practices.

  • Experience in using Infrastructure as Code tooling.

  • Expertise in the Operational aspects of Software Engineering.

  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively build relationships across all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to think strategically with supporting analytical skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity.

  • Ability to lead discussions, make presentations and deliver technical results to a non-technical audience.
