Due to a retirement, we are currently recruiting for a Computer Operator to join our team in Farmington Hills, MI.

                                                                                                                                               

POSITION SUMMARY:

Administers day and/or night-time Data Center Operations within daily, monthly, quarterly and annual processing windows to meet established service level agreements.  Monitors Data Center to identify and resolve processing problems in a timely manner, complete related documentation, reports and perform general maintenance.  Provides Service Desk support to users of Amerisure’s computer systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Monitors system and console operations; identifies need for corrective action and inconsistencies, errors and abnormal endings (abends); monitors queues and response time and operations of peripheral equipment; responds to power outage situations taking appropriate action; resolves problems.  Assists in job scheduling revisions and provides back-up support to the Night-Shift Operator.

  • Provides Service Desk Support utilizing Service Desk manual(s), knowledge base, and established procedures as problem determination tools.

  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines (operating manuals, run books, etc.) to administer all programs and utilities to run, generating output as scheduled; prints and distributes output according to established service levels. 

  • Completes all logs and reports needed to document computer operations.  Performs general maintenance and resolves hardware problems; contacts service technicians or supervisor for major hardware repairs.

  • Provides Data Center monitoring and operation of mainframe, servers, storage and peripheral equipment.

  • Identifies and recommends procedural or workflow improvements to enhance productivity, efficiency and customer satisfaction. 

  • Participates in Disaster Recovery Exercises and/or actual Disaster events; performing Computer Operator and Service Desk support functions as needed.      

  • Troubleshoots equipment problems and places service calls with the appropriate maintenance vendors when necessary. Works with vendors to resolve hardware/software issues.

  • Monitors service and/or referred calls, clearly noting problems on the problem tracking system, escalating calls to other departments or SME of areas when necessary while keeping the user informed of the status of the ticket.

  • Notifies appropriate on-call personnel of any problem not immediately resolved, including co-workers and contacts other support areas when they must be involved with correcting a situation.

  • Utilizes knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures for Data Center Operations and Service Desk services.

  • Assists with office moves and equipment assembly for special events and/or projects.

  • Works closely with Alternate -Shift Operator, Service Desk Analysts and other technical specialists to provide consistent quality service to our users.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • 1 year of IT experience

  • 2 years of experience in Data Center Operations preferred

  • Possesses knowledge of and preferably experience with the following:

    • Data Center Operations best practices related to, open systems, networks and print. 

    • Job scheduling packages (Tidal Workload Automation (TWA), CA7) for purposes of batch processing, including restart and rerun functions.

    • Managing Online systems.

    • Performing system backups on multiple platforms.

    • Monitoring, identifying, and remediating Data Center hardware or software issues (Solar Winds).

    • Operating and managing High Speed Printer. 




  • Experience with Microsoft OS and MVS OS (including MS Offices, TSO and CICS) tools.

  • Technically proficient with MS Windows, MS Active Directory, MS Office, MS Exchange/Outlook and Internet Explorer.  Ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize a workload including when unforeseen issues arise.

  • Clear and effective writer and documenter.
