Department's Website:Summary of Job Duties:The Director of Development will provide strategic oversight and daily management of the fundraising efforts for initiatives identified by the Division. This position will work collaboratively with the other members of the department, as well as the division and will report directly to the Dean of the Honors College and to the Executive Director of Development for University Initiatives in the Development department. The Director will work with University administrators, development colleagues across campus, and volunteers to identify, engage, solicit, and steward donors for the Honors College; continually focus on donor stewardship and developing relationships for future giving to support the Honors College and Dean Initiatives as they evolve; maintain focus on fundraising initiatives and needs, identify means to engage prospective donors, secure annual and major gifts, and have identifiable fundraising outcomes annually; manage the development activity for the Honors College Dean; manage a combined portfolio (approximately 60 - 90 prospects) and average eight or more personally scheduled visits with donors/prospects each month; once a portfolio is developed and donors cultivated, deliver, on average, 12 major gift proposals of $25,000 or more per year; collaborate with the Annual Giving team to develop strategies to: 1) substantially grow the annual giving program/initiatives, 2) develop a leadership annual giving program and 3) create a parents program to support the Honors College; collaborate with the director of communication to create marketing materials that promote fundraising priorities for the college; work closely with the Executive Director of Development while adhering to University development policies and procedures.

The Director will also be responsible for the following for the Honors College:
develop and manage the Honors College's long-term prospect pipeline, concentrating particularly on alumni now entering their forties and Honors College Parents to build out the Honors College's major gifts program; identify other current donors and prospects with a commitment to honors education; build the Honors College annual giving program, focusing on alumni and parents, both for immediate financial support of the college and to identify and cultivate future major-gift prospects; provide strategic support to the Dean's Advisory Board and Parents Committee to help identify fundraising initiatives, members, and enlist their assistance and guidance regarding fundraising priorities; supervise assistant director of development, whose major focus is on event management and to support the Director of Development's travel and donor needs.
