The Speech Pathologist functions as a member of the healthcare team. The Speech-Language Pathologist provides medically prescribed therapy programs with limited supervision in accordance with national standards and administrative guidelines of the hospital.

Evaluation of patient performance and progress * Treatment of patients

Communication of evaluation and treatment results

Documentation of evaluation and treatment results

Reading of patient and professional related materials

Presentations to staff and program development as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

*

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
*

Kansas state license and possess CCC or be eligible for Clinical Fellowship.
*

BLS required upon hire.
*

A minimum of successful completion of clinical internships and eligibility for Clinical Fellowship is required.
*

Prior one year hospital/health related experience is preferred with experience in evaluation of swallowing with sensory testing, performing perceptual and acoustic analyses of voice function.

* Special Skills Required:

*

must possess knowledge of the principles and practice of Speech-Language Pathology and have the ability to apply them in therapeutic treatment programs
*

ability to create clear and concise written and oral reports
*

understand and abide by the established code of ethics for the practice of Speech-Language Pathology
*

ability to maintain patient and facility confidentiality
*

must meet competency standards for appropriate procedures
*

responsible for high degree of accuracy, judgment, problem solving and cognitive reasoning
*

discretion and integrity with regard to confidential information
*

good verbal and written communication skills
*

ability to work independently.
