Yoh is seeking a Scientist I, Analytical and Formulation Development to support our Biotech client in South San Francisco, CA. This is a direct hire opportunity. Please note this is an onsite, lab-based role.

TITLE: Scientist I, Analytical and Formulation Development
LOCATION: South San Francisco, California
TYPE: Direct Hire/Permanent

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Develop HPLC (RP-HPLC), capillary electrophoresis and ELISA based analytical methods for protein/antibody characterization

* Serve as investigative lead on Probodies, PDCs and Bispecifics programs with respect to analytical methods (including but not limited to RP-HPLC, Ion exchange, Capillary electrophoresis, SE-HPLC and HIC)

* Apply scientific principles, current technologies, and personal experience to design and execute appropriate experiments to solve a given problem.

* Work closely with colleagues in Process Sciences to ensure timely analytical support for cell line, process, and formulation development.

* Partner with Protein Sciences to establish process and criteria for manufacturability assessments for clinical candidates at discovery stage

* Contribute to CMC sections in IND/CTA submissions and BLA/MAA submissions; evaluate comparability strategies and perform CQA assessments.

* Facilitate the development of SOPs for various analytical methods and the qualification of methods required for technical transfer to CMO/CRO facilities

* Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation as required

* Troubleshoot assay performance as needed

* Guide junior staff in development work

* Independently evaluate literature to propose strategic ideas for analytical method development for Probodies, PDCs and bispecifics

* Document experimental work in notebooks, SOPs and reports

* Communicate results and propose scientifically based recommendations

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

* Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related discipline with 0 - 3+ years of experience in the biotechnology industry; Masters in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related discipline with 8+ years of experience in the biotechnology industry; Bachelors in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related discipline with 12+ years of experience in the biotechnology industry

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Hands-on knowledge of technical scientific principles for most of the following analytical techniques: HPLC/UPLC (reverse phase, ion exchange, size exclusion); working knowledge of LC/MS is highly desirable.

* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex data.

* Ability to guide junior staff in method development work; previous supervisory experience preferred.

* Experience with performing developability or manufacturability assessments for therapeutic candidates is desirable.
