CNT is seeking a geospatial technical to work with our vector data model technical specialist to perform investigations of new technologies, prototype new data production processes, and perform data modeling. The right candidate will be able to prototype new data products, improve existing workflow processes, and analyze and recommend performance improvements. Knowledge of hydrology and teaching staff in vector subject matter is preferred. Troubleshooting production problems and data issues and writing python scripts are necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:


  • Contributing to the review and recommendation development of potential feature content additions to cartographic products
  • Identifying processes, methods and rules for consistent cartographic visualization and labeling of data across multiple map scales
  • Automating scripts for processing and supporting data themes for cartographic application
  • Participate in the development and testing of repeatable processes to derive cartographic features
  • Evaluating existing workflows and processes
  • Testing tools and techniques relating to cartographic feature derivation and data application
  • Contributing to the operationalization of data processes
  • Contributing to cartographic product layout, design and configuration
  • Participating in meetings to discuss requirements for improved theme and feature level metadata

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

No supervisory/management authority.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


  • Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty

  • 7+ years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • Years of experience can be substituted for education requirements

  • 3+ years of experience programming in Python

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Interpersonal skills and adept at working with a wide variety of staff at varying levels of technical ability
  • Experience with ESRI such as ESRI ArcGIS, ESRI ArcMap, ESRI ArcGIS Server, ESRI SDE Framework, ESRI Geodatabase Technology, ESRI Geo Processing Tools
  • Experience with a Relational Database Technology, and geospatial databases
  • Advanced ability to do technical writing and dataflow diagrams
  • Must be self-motivated, disciplined, and independent
