In this vital role as a Senior Technology Development Portfolio Program Manager, you will join the Research and Technology Portfolio team, a motivated group where diversity is an enabler that drives ingenuity. As an innovation leader, you will shape the future of diabetes therapy by overseeing a category of new technology development. You will use your understanding of managing multiple early stage research projects to think creatively and find ways to help the exploration teams move their technology projects quickly to completion. You will build a network of scientists, engineers, and leaders to coordinate efforts, communicate progress, and make things happen!

A Day in the Life

  • Based on your technical expertise, you will lead one sector of the technology development portfolio.
    o Algorithm, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics technology development
    o Hardware: electrical, mechanical, wearable system technology development

  • Requires extensive cross-functional alignment, collaboration, and communication with multidisciplinary teams and leaders.

  • Present project progress updates across a wide spectrum of stakeholders, from individual contributor to executive management.

  • Requires ability to understand complex technology projects and how to breakdown into achievable milestones, to drive forward the characterization and de-risking of new technologies.

  • Assess risk vs rewards and properly represent technology challenges, opportunities, and readiness for incorporation into a product development process.

  • Manage timelines, milestones, budget, planning and resource allocations for assigned projects.

  • Must be able to build trust with technology team, broader functional groups, as well as leadership.

  • Facilitate technology roadmap planning activities.

  • Leads or leverages cross functional teams to evaluate, develop and manage projects for new product development and ongoing lifecycle management of products, processes and therapies.

  • Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.

  • Manages the development and implementation process of a company's products and services involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing products and processes.

  • Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports.

  • Monitors the project from initiation through delivery.

  • Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.

  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

  • Gathers requirements, works on requirements planning, requirements elicitation and requirements management to ensure they meet demands of project's key stakeholders.

  • Communicates with stakeholders, obtains stakeholder engagement to ensure the end products or processes will solve the business problems.

    Must Have: Minimum Requirements
    IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, THE FOLLOWING BASIC QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME
    Education Required
    Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering or Scientific related discipline


    Years of Experience


  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years in a highly regulated industry; or Master's / Ph.D. with 5+ years in a highly regulated industry.
    Nice to Have


  • Combined degrees of Business and Engineering/Science preferred. Master's degree preferred.

  • Strong Program/Project Management skills, business acumen, with a demonstrated ability to complete projects on time, on budget and with the approved scope.

  • Experience leading early-stage, novel technology development programs in highly dynamic and ambiguous work environments, evaluation of when to "fail fast" and when to continue moving forward amidst challenges.

  • Grant management experience considered valuable.

  • Demonstrated flexibility with ability to evolve and adapt during rapid development cycles; can stay focused and set direction when faced with ambiguity. This includes the ability to anticipate functional direction and roadblocks, prioritize parallel closure paths, and effectively distill and communicate relevant data to the appropriate functional teams and leaders.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to develop and motivate high-performing and diverse teams.

  • Budget management experience.

  • Ability to work independently, self-motivated with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities

  • Detail oriented - but able to see the big picture.

  • Experience with building or changing team culture.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are critical.
