The Senior SW Project Analyst is responsible for providing project planning, management and oversight for key initiatives and implementation projects, ensuring first that these initiatives and projects are closely aligned with Medtronic's strategic priorities, and second, that these initiatives and projects are completed on-time, within scope and with an extremely high quality of deliverables.

The Senior SW Project Analyst will ensure the optimum mix of resource planning, schedule, performance, and system supportability throughout the life cycle (design, development, testing and production) of each project and will analyze alternative problem solutions and present a case for the recommended solutions with a detailed analysis of risks.

A Day in the Life

Assist the program manager with the following:

  • Act as facilitator for the cross functional team to assist in meetings required, project tasks and timelines.

  • Responsible for the scheduling aspects of program management meetings, and design reviews.

  • Responsible for publishing Core Team meeting minutes, action items, and tracking to completion.

  • Responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the project plans, budget (including resources) and schedule.

  • Facilitates project risk management. Ensures information provided is timely, factual and accurate.

  • Occasionally mediates / facilitates a cross functional process.

  • Participates in Design Control audits and coordinates the corrective actions.

  • Seeks out and engages regularly with peers, creating an environment of exchange and learning. Openly shares successes and failures to promote the group's collective learning.

  • Back-up to Core Team Lead, as needed.

  • Define success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project and program life cycle

    Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Leads or leverages cross functional teams to evaluate, develop and manage projects for new product development and ongoing lifecycle management of products, processes and therapies.

  • Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.

  • Manages the development and implementation process of a company's products and services involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing products and processes.

  • Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports.

  • Monitors the project from initiation through delivery.

  • Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.

  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

  • Gathers requirements, works on requirements planning, requirements elicitation and requirements management to ensure they meet demands of project's key stakeholders.

  • Communicates with stakeholders, obtains stakeholder engagement to ensure the end products or processes will solve the business problems.

    Must Have: Minimum Requirements



  • BA/BS degree.

  • 4+ years of experience in a project management/analyst function

    Nice to Have


  • Experience with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office suits (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).

  • PMP training OR certification through PMI.

  • Medical Device, aerospace, or technology companies project management experience preferably in new product development in an R&D environment.

  • 2+ years' experience in documentation system (SAP/Agile).

  • A background in assisting a Project Manager and/or Core Team leader is highly desirable.

  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and mediation skills

  • Strong facilitation, organizational, and problem solving skills

  • Ability to influence management

  • Ability to think strategically, execute and delegate effectively

  • Audit and compliance experience

  • Demonstrated cross-functional work experience on complex programs.

  • Knowledge of industry practices, techniques, and standards, including experience with project management concepts and principles.

  • Enthusiasm towards process improvements and change management.
