Description

Miller-Valentine Group (MVG) Construction is seeking a Safety Manager to provide safety leadership, assurance and support to multiple construction projects. The ideal candidate must be an effective team player with a minimum of 5+ years' experience managing and implementing “best in class” safety management systems from the project pre-planning phase to project execution. Candidate must be a problem solver, and be a subject matter expert in MVG safety policies and procedures and OSHA CFR 1926 compliance matters. Background check, Motor Vehicle Report, drug and physical are required for employment.

Skills and Responsibilities

- Conducts routine on-site safety inspections, analyzing work practices to determine safe and efficient methods of performing work and provides on-the-spot safety solutions to ensure work progresses in a safe manner.

- Document information in relevant reports and analyzes data to make control recommendation(s) and maintain regional SDS database and chemical inventory

- Develop, plan, direct, and implement the company safety program and jobsite specific safety plans to ensure a safe, healthy, and incident-free work environment

- Lead incident investigation efforts and prepare detailed incident investigation reports on all incidents (first aid, near miss, property damage, environmental release and worker injury/illness) with a focus on identifying root cause, trends, and areas of improvement and putting effective measures in place to prevent a reoccurrence.

- Act as liaison with client and MVG and subcontractors to ensure compliance with client specific safety expectations

- Work closely with Safety Director and project team in project preplanning efforts, site specific safety plans and risk assessments.

- Actively participates in project pre-construction meetings.

- Review and provide training to MVG and subcontractor on site specific safety plans to ensure safe project execution

- Remain current on federal, state, county, and local safety regulations

- Performs special projects and completes all other duties as assigned or requested by the Safety Director


Qualifications

- Four year college degree from an accredited college or university preferred or other if supported by construction oriented course work or experience.

- CHST credential from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP)

- Current OSHA 500 instructor authorization

- Proficient knowledge of Excel, Word, and Procore

- 5+ years of experience managing owner and contractor safety programs in commercial construction

- 5+ years of experience working in commercial construction on projects greater than $20+ million in size and scope

- 2+ years of experience performing cast in place concrete tilt up construction

- Proof of certification required in Excavation/Trenching, Scaffolds, Cranes, Rigging and Signaling, Fall Protection, Incident Investigation, Concrete and Masonry, Steel Erection, and Demolition.
