Job Description:
The Production Planner/Scheduler coordinates and schedules the flow of work within or between departments to expedite production.This is a full-time position with the hours of 1:00pm to 10:00pm Monday through Friday.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establishes priorities for specific customer orders and revises schedule according to work order specifications.
- Establishes priorities based on the availability or capabilities of workers, parts, materials, and equipment.
- Responsible for the outcome of jobs and for jobs being completed on schedule.
- Monitors job tickets for packing, marking, and delivery specifications.
- Records, logs, and schedules all incoming jobs.
- Creates and maintains accurate reporting and informs coordinators on all shifts of the status of jobs.
- Tracks the shipment of packages leaving the facility and is able to report on their status.
- Provides daily, weekly, and monthly reports on job status and volumes completed.
- Helps determine staffing needs based on work scheduled and estimated time needed for each job.
- Works directly with estimating to determine job scheduling.
- Monitors Op Centers and Op Codes and ensures they are being used correctly.
- Continues to develop and enhance scheduling procedures.
- Able to maintain and balance monthly reports.
- Ability to effectively identify and train potential back-up candidates.
- Schedules samplings and production runs to comply with customer requirements in an accurate and timely manner.
- Aides in maintaining profitable relationships with customers on behalf of the company by taking responsibility to ensure all customer requirements are met.
- Ensures workload is prioritized for on-time delivery and all materials are available as schedules are created.
- Monitors current inventory, ensures that transportation time is considered, and updates the production schedule accordingly.
- Schedules finishing processes according to customer requirements and equipment capacity.
- Coordinates production schedules to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Responsible for resolving any production problems encountered during the manufacturing process.
- Monitors workflow and schedules to ensure on-time delivery.
- Ensures that materials and equipment are prearranged for production.
- Works with managers to develop potential solutions to improve production performance.
- Develops effective scheduling process to achieve production objectives.
- Analyzes and addresses production issues in a timely fashion.
- Coordinates with production, print production and client services teams to develop and maintain scheduling parameters.
- Orders and stocks adequate materials to avoid any shortages.
- Notifies affected area if beyond capacity or deadlines are in jeopardy.
- Generates production reports to managers for critical decision-making purposes.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 2+ years experience in a production area environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Proficient in AS400.
