Position Description:
Provides support to end-users for PC and server hardware and software difficulties. Handles problems that the first level of desktop support is unable to resolve. Simulates or recreates user problems to resolve operating difficulties. Remains current and maintains a high level of technical skill in field of expertise

Position Requirements:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides 2nd Level support for complex PC and Mac hardware and software problems
• Provides direct client-side, phone support, as well as remote Help Desk support to end-users who are experiencing operating system, connectivity, or application issues
• Performs hardware diagnostics and co-ordinates repairs
• Performs management of Active Directory, configures systems for hires, terminations, and personnel changes; setups conference rooms; and performs PC refreshes
• Implements and maintains competitive technologies and concepts related to the business
• May co-ordinate license server administration, maintenance contracts, software installation and configuration, and vendor interaction as well as purchasing hardware and software
• May assist with maintenance of computer and network security including maintaining, supporting, implementing, and troubleshooting the corporate firewall, VPN, network switches or routers, various LAN components, virus prevention (via Exelixis' virus and email gateways), and intrusion prevention system

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• None

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
Education:
• AA degree in related discipline and three years of related experience; or,
• BS/BA degree in related discipline and one year of related experience; or,
• Equivalent combination of experience and education/training
• May require certification in assigned area.
Experience:
• Typically requires a minimum of five (5) years combination of experience and education/training as noted above.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Organizes and prioritizes numerous tasks and completes them within time constraints
• Frequently applies technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques
• Resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways
• Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding in his area of specialization
• Applies strong analytical and business communication skills

JOB COMPLEXITY:
• Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
• Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
• Networks with senior internal and external personnel in area of expertise
