Job Description:

Arcadis is seeking a Planning and Hydraulics Modeling Engineer, with 5 years of experience to join our Cleveland or Akron OH office. This is a great opportunity for a self-motivated and independent professional to join our team and instantly contribute to world class projects locally and throughout the country. The Engineer will utilize their professional experience and technical knowledge of collection systems planning and modeling to lead or assist active projects and to support developing project pursuits for municipal markets to help build and grow our practice.

The Engineer will utilize their professional experience and technical knowledge of hydraulics, water wastewater collection planning and modeling, and distribution planning and modeling as part of our local project teams developing innovative solutions throughout the national market. This is an excellent opportunity with high potential for growth, including leading and executing tasks and projects, mentoring junior staff, and developing project pursuits and opportunities.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Working as part of a team and through individual efforts to develop and apply hydraulic modeling for wastewater, water and stormwater collection systems to analyze and perform feasibility studies and master planning for collection system projects.

  • Assist with wastewater conveyance systems and asset management data analytics.

  • Exercises independent judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.

  • Produces technical reports.

  • Assists our Client Development Team to identify and pursue new work.

  • Assists others with defining scope of work and objectives and developing pursuits through a strong understanding of business line and industry requirements.

  • Performs task management.

  • Ensures project compliance with all Arcadis' practices and quality and safety standards.

  • Facilitates coordination for timely completion and submission of project deliverables.

  • Engineer is expected to maintain and increase professional and technical knowledge by having regular participation with industry Association's; attending workshops, making presentations and reviewing professional publications.


Key Attributes

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; skills to include - public speaking, ability to communicate effectively as part of a team and with clients and for the preparation/development of technical documents.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain schedules.


Skills and Abilities:

  • Hydraulic modeling & engineering experience for evaluations, investigations, planning, feasibility studies and modeling (SWMM and/or ICM experience preferred) of wastewater and stormwater collection systems.

  • Experience with GIS.

Required Qualifications


  • 5 years' of Planning and Hydraulics Modeling Engineer experience.

  • Bachelors' degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related Engineering field of study.

  • Engineer in Training Certification (EIT).


Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters or PhD in Civil or Environmental Engineering.

  • Current OH PE License.

  • 7 years' of Planning and Hydraulics Modeling Engineer experience .

  • Active participation in regional and/or national professional association.
