Senior Instructional Designer - Remote

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
You are self-driven and possess the ability to interface effectively with senior leaders and multiple stakeholders. You thrive in a fast-paced, rigorous environment with changing priorities and have strong design consulting and communication skills. You will partner with the learning team, operations team, and other stakeholders on global solutions, including program design, development themes, solution delivery, assessment, and everything in-between.

As a Senior Instructional Designer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Applying knowledge of instructional theories: adult learning, on the job learning, knowledge management theories, principles in both virtual and classroom instruction.


• Leading needs assessments, design consulting, instructional design, organization development and design for multiple delivery platforms (e.g. blended learning tracks, classroom, self-paced, virtual, social, leader-led) across global cultures.


• Leading in designing, developing, and measuring learning and development programs aligned to key skill building marketing initiatives (for example: integrated marketing, marketing strategy, pricing strategy, portfolio strategy and management, brand and value, insights, new product commercialization, etc.).


• Collaborating in developing learning solutions aligned to organization’s Marketing Training & Development initiatives.


• Leveraging technology to create engaging learning experiences

Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution


• Five (5) years in instructional and/or learning experience design


• Project management experience


• Experience managing and coordinating training vendors/agency project work

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Experience with consulting, needs analysis, and designing learning programs


• Experience working with global cross-functional teams, handling multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and supporting virtual clients


• Experience with change management, identifying new opportunities, and influencing a new direction/process


• Experience and background with marketing training and development initiatives


• Experience with an enterprise learning management system, Accessible or Inclusive design methodology, Storyline software and webinar tools (WebEx, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, On24, etc.)

Location: Maplewood, MN preferred and may consider a remote U.S. work location

Travel: May include up to 5%

Relocation: May be authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status)
