Job Summary

Responsible for performing first-article layout evaluations for new product, gauges, fixtures, and tooling; responding to “stop jobs”; issuing and receiving gauges; and providing assistance to various groups on product inspection related problems. Develops (writes) and trouble shoots Coordinate Measuring Machine programs and assists in the performance of laboratory testing. SHIFT 3

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Perform first-article evaluations for new products, gauges, fixtures, and tooling. Respond to special inspection priority jobs, by reviewing print and set-up procedures, obtaining specialized fixtures, inspecting items, and reporting evaluation results. Write Coordinate Measuring Machine programs for product/equipment inspection, debug and certify programs, and train appropriate parties. Train new department employees in the use and maintenance of certain Metrology lab equipment and maintenance of related documentation. Perform inspection of products.

Expected Areas of Competence

 Ability to work with minimum supervision. Responsible for making decisions related to own work and that of others within broad guidelines established by department supervisor or manager.  Ability to build relationships with other areas of the organization. Daily contact with Quality technicians, Quality Control inspectors, tool and die makers. Weekly communications with Development engineers, Quality Engineers, Production supervisors or managers, and Buyers.  Highly competent in mathematics ( geometry, trigonometry, and algebra), with working knowledge of a wide variety of measurement equipment.  Understand advanced Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, pertinent ANSI/ISO standards calibration methods/techniques, and basic statistics.

Education/Experience Requirements

 3 years of coordinate measurement machine programming experience
