Job Brief:

The role of Creative Director is critical to the success of video and motion graphics for the Creative Center of Excellence (CCOE), the Gartner in-house creative agency. The Creative Director will report to the Executive Creative Director and will be responsible for developing a creative vision and executional design for video and motion graphics. She/He will manage a talented team of Producers, Preditors, Motion Graphic Designers and Audio Engineers responsible for the design and production of 500+ multimedia assets a year to support Gartner's 16 business units. The right candidate will have exceptional conceptual skills, design expertise and the ability to clearly articulate how conceptual ideas tie to solving business problems. Working closely with the ECD the Creative Director will drive the ECD's creative vision developing engaging visual storytelling and creative that gets results.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to develop and lead a production team and effectively collaborate with other product and creative teams to support our business partners. She/he embraces change and has the agility to find ways to navigate through it. The Creative Director is expected to generate world-class customer-centric experiences based on marketing best practices, testing and research to convert prospects into clients, amplify Gartner's brand and drive revenue for the business. To achieve this, it's essential that this candidate be curious by nature to understand the needs of the business so that the team can deliver targeted results.

What You Will do:

Individual Contributor:


  • Drive the ECD's overall creative vision to inform creative strategy and execution of video and motion graphics content across specific channels, and platforms

  • Provide leadership and expertise for video and motion graphics design, brand and presentation best practices that translate into effective storytelling and execution

  • Oversee the end-to-end creative process for Production team from creative concepting to post-production; including the direction of video shoots

  • Player-coach: Lead by example and roll up her/his sleeves to support the team

  • Partner with the ECD and based on the vision, analysis, and results/data synthesize into actionable story-telling recommendations for video and motion graphics work

  • Be a strong advocate and ambassador for the Gartner Brand and visual identity. Make informed decisions as to how to apply the Brand as for specific audiences, and market segments to achieve KPIs

  • Partner with business partners; understand their business needs, develop targeted creative solutions and therefore achieve mission critical priorities to help them achieve their goals

Manager:


  • Work with operations to prioritize each project, assign the right person and oversee the work to completion

  • Plan, build and lead a team of creative production associates mentoring career development and career paths for team members in alignment with company and personal objectives

  • Inspire the team to develop great work and support creative team members as they ideate, collaborate and design new experiences

  • Foster a collaborative multidisciplinary environment across the entire CCOE

  • Review in-house capabilities, processes and equipment used for multimedia production and make changes to ensure the set is optimized to deliver the highest production value

What You Will Need:


  • 10-12+ years of hands-on senior-level video art direction experience preferably in an ad agency, or production house

  • 10+ years of creative direction, concept development and creative leadership experience

  • Bachelor's degree in fine arts, design or similar creative experience

  • Prior experience leading a creative production team

  • Understanding of workflow, equipment, and technologies

  • Experience with Adobe Premiere, After Effects and other editing systems/software

  • Problem solver and innovator with the ability to take responsibility and deliver results

  • An influencer with strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills

  • Outstanding leadership and people management skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

  • Detail-oriented

  • Strong organization, time management, and problem-solving skills

  • Strong collaborative skills with other design leaders and practitioners to push creative limits

  • Ability to think long term while working within immediate constraints

  • Ability to pivot to new situations and maintain focus to meet tight deadlines

  • Solid understanding of Mac OS platform, experience working with DAM solutions, AE effects and plug-ins

  • Nice to have; experience with Davinci color grading
