The User Experience & Visual Design team passionately investigates and strategically crafts frictionless human experiences that facilitate the sharing of the world’s collected knowledge. Because what is known must be shared.

Within the User Experience & Visual Design team, the User Experience Researcher is responsible for delivering insights about users’ behavior and interactions to empower the development of data-informed, user-centric experiences. This includes consulting with Experience Design to concept, design, and produce high-quality interactive products that support an overall best-in-class experience for our member institutions and their staff/patrons.

Responsibilities

• Independently plan, conduct, and analyze formative research to document personas, goals, and tasks, and to assess usability and utility of designs in prototype or production.

• Independently plan, conduct, and analyze summative research to validate designs or measure performance.

• Collaborate with Product Managers and User Experience Designers to coordinate and execute research.

• Consult with Senior and Lead User Experience Researchers across work to ensure alignment.

• Demonstrate excellence in user research process, industry-leading research techniques, and communication of findings and recommendations.

• Make actionable recommendations and be a persuasive voice in decision making with diverse stakeholders to improve the utility and usability of features, functionality, and product capabilities.

• Create strong cross-functional relationships with all key stakeholders, including Experience Design, UI Design, product management, and development teams.

• You have strong oral and written communication skills as the UX Researcher will present rationale and deliverables to a variety of stakeholders, from cross-functional team members to member libraries.

• You are comfortable presenting work through narrative, explanation of strategy, appropriate context and delivery of rationale.

• You are autonomous, detail-oriented, and comfortable working on cross-functional teams in a fast-paced Agile environment.

• You are able to initiate and drive complex projects to completion.

• You are an expert at handling yourself in both collaborative and challenging situations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience conducting User Experience Research for complex products/scenarios.

• Bachelor’s specialization User Experience Research or Human Computer Interaction or related field.
