Reporting to the Director of Compensation, Benefits and HRIS, the Benefits Specialist, Health and Retirement will be responsible for administering the day-to-day operations of all group health and retirement benefit programs and will serve as a key liaison to OCLC Employees, Retirees and COBRA participants.
Responsibilities:
Manage health and retirement benefits administration for U.S. and Canadian employee populations
Maintain a thorough understanding of benefits that are offered to employees, including medical, pharmacy, dental, vision, extended health care (Canada), FSA, HSA, 401(a), 401(k), 403(b), 457(b) and various voluntary plans
Manage all inbox activity in MS Outlook and Workday HCM system, including researching employee inquiries and providing response, support and education on benefit programs
Process all benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations in the Workday HR system
Maintain accurate plan documents, summary plan descriptions and other required notices; ensure they are distributed to participants in a timely manner; ensure benefits administration is compliant with respective plan documents
Serve as key liaison between employees and benefit providers, including close partnership with COBRA administrator to ensure timely notifications are provided to separated employees
Prepare and communicate information to employees and former employees about benefit programs, procedures, changes, and government-mandated disclosures
Assist with new hire onboarding to ensure appropriate education and timely enrollment into benefit programs
Manage employee eligibility, enrollment and reporting for retirement plans and contributions
Assist with annual open enrollment activity, new vendor implementations and contract renewals
Process monthly billing from health and retirement vendors for submission to Accounts Payable
Maintain employee benefits and retirement files in accordance with organization policy and government regulations
Assist with communication strategy and development of materials for all benefits initiatives, including maintenance of internal HR SharePoint benefits site
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and minimum of five years’ experience in group benefits, or equivalent
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise the highest level of discretion
Thorough understanding of all applicable federal and state regulations regarding benefits, including IRC Sections 105, 125, 129, 401, 403, 457, ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA and FMLA, Medicare, DOL
Experience with HR systems is required; Workday knowledge is strongly preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills
Ability to identify and analyze problems, generate solutions, and implement recommendations
Strong organization skills, accuracy, and high level of attention to detail
Team oriented with ability to work across all levels of the organization
