Job Description:

Our expertise is the design and manufacture of communications-based specialty products engineered components and subsystems for demanding military, space, commercial aerospace/industrial, and telecom infrastructure applications where function and reliability are crucial.

This position will use technical knowledge and experience to analyze quality, delivery, and productivity data of various electro-mechanical products to determine required actions to improve reliability, lead time, and total cost via tooling design, technical writing, and semi-automated testing. This position will also be called upon to address manufacturability issues with current designs, troubleshoot product failures, evaluate supplier processes, and/or function as a leader for special projects including new work cell design, new product launch, and design verification testing. An experienced leader in this role may also be given a supervisory role over manufacturing positions.

Typical Responsibilities:

* Manufacturing Support

* Provides technical assistance and feedback to manufacturing personnel to ensure customer and quality specifications are met during the production and testing process

* Defines, develops and maintains standard work documentation and instructions for new and existing products

* Coordinates manufacturing activities along with a cross functional group (Engineering, Quality Assurance and Sales Departments) to ensure product specifications are accurately reflected in design drawings and work instructions

* Designs tools and fixtures for product assembly

* Helps train assembly personnel in proper use of tools, equipment and assembly techniques

* Updates process procedures and provides training to manufacturing personnel on any process or product performance changes.

* Identify capital equipment purchases and justify by using ROI analysis

* Supports and mentors junior level manufacturing team members

* Continuous Improvement/Automation implementation

* Design and implement engineering and/or process solutions for increased quality, improved throughput and reduced costs

* Development of automation for assembly or testing phases

* Apply lean manufacturing techniques to existing manual assembly lines to improve quality and productivity

* Work with design engineers to transition new product/improvements into assemblies which can effectively be built with minimum variation by assembly personnel

* Support continuous improvement initiatives including Kaizen activities and Lean 6Sigma implementation

* Quality Support

* Effectively develop and document sustainable process solutions to support corrective and preventive action requests (RCCA).

* Mentor the team in well organized problem solving activities

* Work with quality assurance staff to support production yield and DPPM improvement and PFMEA analyses

* Participate in MRB disposition activities to determine best paths forward

* Program Support

* Creates necessary deliverables for programs, including Manufacturing Readiness Reviews, and presents it to the manufacturing department and customer personnel as needed

* Supports new customer programs throughout all phases, from product development through to product delivery

* Coordinates manufacturing of outside processing requirements with Supply Chain and Quality Assurance departments

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

* Bachelor's degree

* Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred

* 5-10 years of experience developing and implementing manufacturing processes and design solutions in the production of electromechanical components and assemblies

* Requires excellent written, oral and electronic communication skills

* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and schematics

* Strong organization and planning skills

* Proficiency in Solid works for creating drawings and developing models for assembly applications

* Familiarity with common processes in the assembly/processing of electro-mechanical devices

* Familiarity with high FOD awareness and/or Clean Room environment.

* Experience with ISO or AS quality management systems preferred

Physical Requirements:

* Able to read documents and computer screen

* Able to sit/stand for long periods of time

* Able to type on a computer keyboard

* Able to communicate through a telephone

* Able to communicate with customers and co-workers

* Able to lift, push, pull and carry a minimum of 20 lbs.

* Good manual dexterity

* Able to work using a stereo microscope for extended periods.
