ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH, SAFETY AND SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY LEAD

Roswell, GA

Position Purpose

To lead the development and deployment of K-C’s enterprise-wide Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability Strategy to enhance the company’s long-term value proposition with investors, customers, partners and employees in support of overall corporate strategy and business goals. The initial focus of this position will be on building K-C’s Global Health Strategy, providing thought leadership and influence in order to innovate, develop, and deploy our crisis management policy and procedures. Beyond this focus, the role will additionally support the Global VP of EHS&S.

Principal Accountabilities:


  • Lead and champion the design, development and execution of the next generation of enterprise Health strategies that meet the future needs of employees, customers, consumers and other key stakeholders.

  • Explore, recommend and enable development of innovative benchmark business models, products and processes designed to enhance the EHS&S performance of the company and its key customers/suppliers across the value chain.

  • Partner with business/brands/innovation teams to identify, develop, launch strategic initiatives capable of driving growth/value with particular emphasis on measurable value creation.

  • Establish priorities, seek business alignment and partner with business unit teams.  Leverage relationships and influence appropriate corporate, functional, and business leadership globally, including Regional Health Business Partners and business unit Sustainability leaders, for effective execution.

  •  Provide expert EHS&S analysis, evaluation, advice and direction on all relevant projects/issues/business opportunities. This includes identifying potential business opportunities, anticipating risks, and recommending solutions.  Focus areas will include:

    • Active leadership and support of EHS&S-related marketing and communications activities.

    • Exploration of business development opportunities designed to expand K-C’s Health competencies to competitive advantage and business growth.

    • Building an EHS&S mindset and capabilities within K-C’s innovation teams and processes.



  • Identify K-C capability gaps and recommend development opportunities to further support strategy and goals.

  •  Continuously improve systems, processes and capabilities regarding EHS&S for the enterprise and for the EHS&S team.

  • Visibly and credibly demonstrate a corporate commitment to Global Health Services through enterprise, business unit and facility programs.

  • Strive for excellence in all formal and informal communications.  Work towards clear, cogent, practical and action-oriented written and oral communications that focus on the problem, recommend solutions and take into consideration the audience being addressed.

  • Contribute to an environment in which all team members are respected regardless of their individual differences and are motivated to improve both their individual and team contributions to achieve desired business results.

  • Provide influential leadership to the EHS&S Leadership Team.

Scope and Dimensions:


  • The incumbent reports to the Senior Director of Occupational Health & Safety for at least the first year. Following that, the incumbent may report to the VP of Global EHS&S. The position has global responsibility to service over 120 operating facilities located in 37 countries with $19 billion in annual global sales.

  •  Operating Budget: $1.5 – 2.0 Million.

  • Corporate Foundation – Influence to direct up to $10 million.

  • Personnel:  No direct reports, but will provide work direction and influence to Global, Regional, and Local EHS&S partners.

Qualifications/Education/Experience Required:


  • Post-graduate degree in a Health Services, EHS, Science, Engineering field, or an MBA.

  • 15+ years leading business strategy and/or business development activities for a Global, matrixed organization (focus on Health Services, Occupational Health, or EHS&S strongly preferred).

  • Proven global collaboration skills and entrepreneurial mindset – viewed as a leader.

  • Strong cross-functional skills, experience and networking ability.

  • Comfort working in fast paced environments and dealing with ambiguity.

  •  Expert presentation, communication skills and overall business acumen to be credible with global customers and end users and help build C-suite level relationship.

  • Significant experience in building strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Strong strategic and analytical skills.

  • Proven ability to envision, outline and business rationale for end to end business models in support of new products, solutions and/or services.

  • Understands environmental issues, social responsibility and business management and the interrelationships and opportunities therein.

  • Direct experience working in developing and emerging economies.

  •  Green marketing a plus.

  • High degree of demonstrated business and financial acumen.

  • Business planning and business development, including building a business case, profitability scenario analyses and valuation methodology.

  • Business strategy development and deployment, including working understanding of LEAN management systems and continuous improvement principles.
