Job Description:

Overview of New Team Purpose and Mission  RB is establishing a new team to lead foundational research in several key areas: Virology, Mycology, and home and human Microbiome. You will be a part of a team focused on expanding current capabilities and identifying new areas that may be used to develop innovative products and product claims. Using a platform approach, this team will be charged with building relevant research programs, capability, and partnerships.

Responsibilities •    Provide technical contributions in a fast-paced team environment to accelerate our efforts on building an analytics-driven product pipeline
•    Knowledge related to the principles, theories, and practices of epidemiological studies, and impacts of environmental or microbiome exposures to health
•    Synthesize data in a way that can be incorporated into risk assessments, and participate in multidisciplinary study teams
•    Conducting statistical analysis of epidemiological data and managing, collecting, and analyzing epidemiological and/or human health exposure data
•    Leverage microbial ecological and metagenomic knowledge and applied statistical or machine learning methods to deliver new insights to the pipeline
•    Utilize existing pipelines to process and analyze high-throughput sequence data
•    Manage, organize all bioinformatics sequence data both 16S and others
•    Provide ad-hoc support to scientists by providing technical guidance and bioinformatic support in the interpretation of their Key R&D results from data generated using next-generation sequencing data
•    Independently implement, optimize, and maintain bioinformatics tools or pipeline for analysis of diverse sequencing datasets
•    Collaborate with fellow team members to continually identify and implement analytical improvement to existing bioinformatics workflows
•    Be an overall champion of best data practices by working in partnership with fellow team members in making sure that the scripts and pipeline are version controlled, generated data is in standardized format and everything integrates seamlessly with our existing data architecture and strategy 

Qualifications •    Fresh Ph.D Degree in Bioinformatics/applied Mathematics/Statistics, Computer science or  Master's degree with 4-5 years of work experience in the areas of Bioinformatics, Machine learning/Artificial Intelligence and big data analysis, Statistics, Epidemiology, Health Services Research, or Biological data Science management
•    Experience with analysis around quality, consumer experience, and healthcare sector
•    SAS certification is a plus
•    Experience in survey methods and survey design, and developing analysis plans and statistical reports.
•    Knowledge of NGS methods and the statistical principles behind the current best practices in high-throughput data analysis
•    Proficient in scripting Python or R (Vegan or Phyloseq-Bioconductor) 
•    First-hand technical experience in handling and analyzing high-throughput NGS data (genome assembly, RNA-seq, variant calling, etc)
•    Familiar with git version-control workflow
•    Use advanced metagenomic assembly, annotation, and analysis methods
•    Bioinformatics using omics datasets including metagenomic assembly, functional analysis (annotation, statistical analysis, and phylogenetics) and network analysis
