The Mewbourne School of Petroleum and Geological Engineering (MPGE) is excited to announce our search for an Academic Counseling Profesional II. This position is responsible for administrative and advisory duties in the department's graduate programs.
Job duties:
Processes all graduate student applications, admissions, student inquiries, referrals and necessary forms. Collects data and prepares various statistical reports.
Coordinates academic advising of graduate students. Screens and responds to student verbal and written inquiries, counsels and advises students and prospective students. Maintains student records and tracks student progression through the program, grades, and course enrollment.
Serves as liaison with advising personnel from other colleges, Graduate College and International Student Services. Prepares correspondence, evaluates and writes petitions, administers tuition waivers, and coordinates grad student matriculation details. Assists in the implementation of policies and procedures, provides input for the development and revision of information materials.
Evaluates work for transfer credit and transfer credit limit. Maintains membership in graduate committee to advise on curriculum changes, policies, GTA assignments, and new admissions. Administers and reviews regular and formal graduate student evaluations. Monitors academic progress towards degree completion.
Collects, processes and prepares annual graduate programs assessment report, including tracking thesis and dissertation defense results using assessment rubric.
Required Education: Bachelor Degree or equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND:
18-36 months Academic Advising/Student Services
Skills:
Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff
Composition and proofreading skills
Certifications:

Advertised Physical Requirements:
