Sr Application Engineer, 3M, St. Paul, MN: Support new Product & App. Dvlpmnt in Advanced Materials Division at 3M. Investigate customer issues & recommend & dvlp solutions to customer problems in advanced ceramic products w/in a cross-functional team incl. Sales, Marketing, Quality, & Manufacturing. Perform lab work such as extrusion compounding & injection molding to generate samples & perform mechanical property & analytical testing. Provide frequent verbal & written communication & presentations w/customers & internally within 3M. Must have Master's in a Science or Eng'g field & 3 yrs app. eng'g, product dvlpmnt, or research lab exp. in a private, public, gov, or military environment. Alternatively, may possess Bach in a Science or Eng'g field & 5 yrs exp. w/ above. With either combination of edu+exp. must have exp. w/: (i) polymer processing, mechanical property testing, & polymer characterization techniques including tensile & flex property testing, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, DSC, & TGA; (ii) data analysis utilizing tools such as MS Excel, Minitab, & image analysis software; & (iii) creating & presenting technical reports to a technical audience.
