The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

3M is playing a leading role in advancing new technology solutions into the evolving automotive industry.  We are looking for experienced Advanced Product Specialists to help drive our technology and product platforms in the areas of battery solutions for e-Powertrain and exterior/interior films for design and functionality.   You will help to commercialize new technologies into these fast-growing segments.
 

As an Advanced Product Specialist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:


  • Serving as a technical expert for a strong customer focused role to accelerate the commercialization of new materials solutions for the automotive industry.

  • Proactively building credibility to shape industry standards organizations, practices, and governmental code regulations; Participating in key industry trade organizations and identifies critical industry trends.

  • Developing new products and applications by determining key performance requirements, participating in part design reviews, and training our customers on the proper use of 3M products as needed.

  • Defining and developing new product and/or new application opportunities.

  • Leading efforts to drive growth through customer collaboration, new application development, and new product commercialization.

Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Three (3) years of industrial or academic experience in a private, public, government, or military environment in one or more of the following areas: R&D, product development engineer, application engineer, and/or material science

  • Experience in battery, polymers, and/or film technologies

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:


  • Master's degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related discipline from an accredited institution

  • Five plus years of customer focused experience with application development and/or new product development

  • Experience with automotive paint or lithium ion battery for EV industries.

  • Experience working with industry standards organizations and governmental code regulations

  • Experience with commercializing new materials solutions for the automotive industry

Travel: May include up to 15%

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
