If you are an Engineer looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you as Tooling Engineer!  Based in our Danbury, Connecticut location, you will be responsible for the engineering, design for conception and development of custom tooling. Elaborate concept and design of tooling at a highly technical level. Perform design analysis (FEA) and creation of 3D geometry/drawings. Interface directly with our machine shop, outside sales force, and vendors to support this function. Suggest and help implement process or material improvements to ensure quality objectives are met.
 

AS A TOOLING ENGINEER, YOU WILL: 



  • Concept and design of tooling (fixture and horns) for welding of plastic parts. Create 3D drawings using SolidWorks. Evaluate horn design using FEA (Ansys) for proper tuning, stress level, amplitude level and uniformity. Ensure that the horn design meet Branson’s acoustic specifications and level of performance. 



  • Use design for manufacturability practices to control costs through design and build and insure profitability targets are met. 



  • Perform design reviews with customers to ensure that the tooling design meets the customer’s expectations. 



  • Release required documentation to the machine shop for manufacturing of the tools. 



  • Support the tooling checkout engineer to troubleshoot tooling and identify possible required rework. Provide the shop with documentation for any tooling rework required in a timely fashion. 



  • Perform and control all updates and revisions to tooling drawing. 



  • Research and investigate new materials and coatings for tooling, to improve performance, robustness and durability. 



  • Develop specifications for quotation purposes or application development, which involves interfacing with ATG team, manufacturing, planning, vendors, and customers. Involves heavy customer contact with the direct aim of driving the sales process through order placement. 



  • Support Manufacturing, R&D, Applications Lab, Sale Representatives, and customers with technical information. May include trips to customer plants. 



  • Provide training on acoustic tooling during customer seminars, or to new Branson employee. 



  • Maintain awareness of competitive products and developments. 



  • Handle various special projects as determined by ATG upper management


WHO YOU ARE:

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:





  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering



  • 2 years experience in CAD, SolidWorks preferred



  • Proficient with FEA and Solids design background



  • Good verbal and written communication skills



  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment



  • Physically capable of transporting materials and tools weighing up to 50 pounds
