Senior Accounting Manager - Fuels Group at Christensen, Inc.

What You’ll Do


  • Build and maintain an effective organizational structure and high-performance team capable of consistently meeting all accounting and reporting needs of the department.

  • Maintain ownership of the Division’s process maps and work with Operations Controller to make improvements or adjustments to ensure all processes meet end to end control and information needs

  • Understand, document, and implement proper procedures that allows effective accounting for the monitoring of dealer contracts & conversion, volume rebates, co-op advertising, fuel billing, cash management, etc.

  • Maintain chart of accounts, financial statements, and other financial & operational reports for the Business Units

  • Oversee Cash management, key account reconciliations, EFT processing, and any additional accounting processes required to ensure complete and accurate Business Unit financial records and reports

  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements

  • Ensure all key reconciliations are prepared on a systematic basis.

  • Prepare key reconciliations

  • Provide financial metrics for scorecards and supporting schedules for senior management and General Managers.

  • Partner with the Operations Controller to ensure accuracy and timely financial reporting

  • Identify and implement a system of controls with the Operations Controller, including Grants of Authority, and common systems & processes

  • Mentor and coach key direct reports, including executing all requirements of the Assess to Compensate process which includes establishment of Performance Planners and mid and year end written reviews for all your direct reports and the team members they are responsible for managing

  • Work effectively with senior operational leaders and demonstrate command over the business’s financial performance by being intimately conversant with each Division’s strategy, long range forecasts, budgets, ongoing forecasts and overall reported financial results.

  • Perform other duties as requested.

Other Key Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related business fields required

  • 8+ years of experience in Accounting or Finance

  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, One Note, Access)

  • Strong understanding of management and cost accounting principle

  • Works well in an environment with firm deadlines; results oriented

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities along with flexibility and adaptability to change
