Lead Machine Operator / Line Lead - 2nd shift & 3rd shift Position Summary: The Line lead is responsible for assisting the Department Team Lead and Supervisor with coordination of work assignments, training new employees and completion of daily reports and paperwork. This position is a leadership role and requires the ability to assist in running a team both safely and effectively while still meeting customer and company needs/standards. Your tasks:•Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same.•Trains workers in equipment operation.•Monitors the work of assembly workers.•Performs activities of workers monitored.•Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.•Displays a commitment to excellence with a team oriented attitude.•Supports Team Leader in training team members, completing paperwork and ensuring quality work is being produced.•Assists and fills in as Team Leader if necessary.•Assembles component parts to specifications in a manner, which is consistent with the company's quality and productivity standards.•Inspects all parts for cosmetic defects. Examples: scratches in paint, scratches in chrome on piston rods, damaged dust covers, etc.•Inspects all parts for proper assembly. Examples: stake mark on piston rod, snap ring seated in internal groove, engraving in place and legible, etc.•Tags any non-conforming parts with re-work labels and place in re-work bin.•Ensures all parts are assembled per specification.•Attends a two-day offsite Front Line Leadership Training, to be held locally at Definity University. As part of the training, must successfully demonstrate in the 90 days immediately following the class the use of all nine competencies taught as well as complete and report out the results of a mutually selected project in area of responsibility.•Completes tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules and within standard times.•Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Qualifications:•Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams in situations associated with high volumes of work and/or customer demands. This would include providing direction, coaching, and effective feedback to team members.•Possesses a stable work history, preferably in a manufacturing environment, and a strong personal desire to work safely and maintain a safe working environment.•Demonstrates a strong customer focus along with a great work ethic and willingness to do what needs to be done (without taking shortcuts.)•Demonstrated knowledge of basic math, including working with decimals, and strong mechanical aptitude. Possesses a logical method of problem solving and willingness to learn and improve one's skills.
