Reporting to the Head of Enterprise Agile, will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and guidance specific to portfolio governance, risk management, and audit. You will serve as a strategic thought leader and execution partner to the Head of Enterprise Agile.

The rapid pace of technological innovations within the financial services industry threatens to disrupt organizations' ability to compete. In order to combat the new landscape, financial institutions are digitizing their operations and adopting strategies to reduce their go-to-market lead time. This increased velocity poses new challenges to risk and compliance functions as they strive to ensure sound practices throughout the development, implementation, and transition of new initiatives or products into successful and sustainable business operations. Organizations are increasingly utilizing agile methods for executing technology projects as well as business change initiatives. Agile initiatives are generally completed by nimble execution teams working rapidly to spur business changes. As organizations move to agile delivery, control functions, including risk, compliance and business control teams, will need to rethink their interaction models for executing credible challenge and advising the business in near real-time methods.

Together, you will provide improved portfolio transparency, continuously experimenting to determine whether a project is valuable, as well as aligning strategy with execution; compliance and operational risk subject matter expertise to support strategic initiatives, establish and maintain appropriate systems of risk management and internal controls to support business objectives, maintain acceptable risk appetite/tolerances and comply with applicable laws and regulations in parallel to the execution of the multi-year strategic capability assessment and adoption of agile approaches.

Key functional responsibilities will include:

  • Works directly with Finance, Portfolio Management and Enterprise Risk to drive inputs to portfolio governance and funding decisions
  • Driving alignment between strategy and portfolio execution
  • Manage portfolio flow, engage in portfolio reviews, analyze metrics for continuous improvement
  • Create shared understanding between all stakeholders of what's happening inside the portfolio
  • Manage risk, audit, and regulatory requirements and expectations of Agile delivery teams
  • Identify risks, make assessments, consider responses and analyze reviews in order to control risks associated with Agile project delivery
  • Ensure safety and soundness guidelines in organizational agile process and enterprise documentation
  • Reduce duplication, rework, errors and defects from business changes
  • Prioritize building of preventative risk mitigants into design
  • Enables Agile delivery teams to focus on growth, improve efficiency and become more effective in managing risks while providing greater value to business partners
  • Establish working knowledge of industry best practices
  • Engage with Enterprise Risk Management, Risk Committees, Operational Risk and Compliance
  • Conduct independent review of Agile practices to ensure compliance with bank and regulatory policies and guidelines
  • Work with and coach key stakeholders (e.g. Executive Committee, Senior Business colleagues and business unit leaders) on Agile principles, methodology, behaviors, and working in agile ways.
  • Partner with named Agile champions and with practitioners
  • Oversight that drives agile adoption forward at a pace matching business readiness. Leading on culture change across the organization.
  • A visible leader of culture changes and an expert on Agile in Financial Services.
  • Partner with the Change Management organization on Agile Training

    • Required experience in Fintech, an agile environment, or within a product organization in banking/financial services; experience with implementation agile integrations in a larger organization.
    • Experience in strategic planning and execution and considerable knowledge of business theory, business processes and management.
    • Excellent understanding of project management details, with a successful project management background.
    • Must have strong interpersonal skills, maturity, and good judgment and be capable of communicating with a diverse range of individuals.
    • Ability to multi-task, detail-oriented, with hands-on, roll-up sleeves approach to directing and assisting leaders, vendors. Proven ability to assess, articulate priorities with clear outcomes in mind.
    • Strong leadership and ability to influence. Works effectively with various levels within an organization, including senior-level leadership, professionals and staff.
    • 10 years of experience working in Banking, Technology, Software Development, Project Management, Process Governance, Risk Management, Audit
    • 5 years of experience working in an Agile transformation environment

    Education:

    • Minimum of a BS; MBA preferred.
    • Certifications: Preferred - Agile Leader, Scrum Master, Product Owner, Coach, Project Management, Risk Management, Process Governance, Audit
