A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Performs a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and/or optical areas.

  • Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, diagnoses, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems.

  • Works from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.

  • Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format.

  • Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed; prepares prescribed compounds and solutions.

Requires extensive knowledge of scientific and laboratory techniques. Working knowledge of medical device products and manufacturing methods. Thorough knowledge of statistical analysis tools, CAD, as well as ability to write/edit equipment programs. Viewed as expert technician within the organization.

Collaborates with other functions to develop and implement the equipment and methods to test or manufacture product. Uses statistical analysis to write clear and accurate test reports, recommend solutions and lead team to solve problems.

Minimal supervision. Analyzes data and authors documentation. Provides leadership to lower level personnel. Provides technical support across functional groups.

Reports to Engineering Supervisor or designated professional engineer.

Identifies, evaluates, and implements continuous improvements to optimize product design, performance and test methods, while reducing manufacturing costs. Performs the most complex of the resulting tests and writes complete DHF documentation including characterization, plans, and reports. Ensures adherence to project plans and budgets.

Works closely with engineers in evaluating and improving design, process, and equipment. Contacts are frequent with individuals from other departments including participating in benchmarking other business units.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Minimum of 8 years of experience of relevant experience and may require vocational or technical education and advanced certification in addition to prior work experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
