The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

The person hired for the position of PCB (Printed Circuit Board) Engineer will provide technical leadership and manufacturing support within the Electronic Hardgoods Focus Factory. This position will be supporting development and deploying of new or improved process technology, new product development, cost reduction and quality improvements. In this position, the person is responsible for driving operational excellence within the areas of support and is expected to initiate and conduct broadly defined technical tasks within the process technology platforms. They are also responsible for advising, consulting and troubleshooting area processes within the plant.

  • Actively utilizing Lean Six Sigma and statistical tools for improving processes and reducing waste

  • Actively engaging with the Quality Group during Complaint Resolutions and Corrective/Preventative Actions Provide technical support to Production and Plant Engineering on daily operational issues

  • Leading new product development including; quote development & tracking of NPI for manufacturability

  • Developing Statistical Process Control Standards Work with support teams to provide appropriate experiments

  • Supporting implementation with New Product/New Technology Introduction system

  • Working with Plant, Division, and other internal and external resources as needed to accomplish objectives

  • Managing overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Rates, Process Yield, and Quality

  • Writing work instructions that provide guidance and manufacturing standards for products

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Experience with circuit board technology (e.g. Surface Mount Technology (SMT) & Through Hole (PTH)) and troubleshooting

  • Six (6) years of experience in process engineering within a manufacturing or industrial setting in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or Technology (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • High personal integrity, an energetic & positive attitude and be a self-starter; able to work with minimal supervision

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical and organizational skills

  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and apply systematic thinking in problem solving in Lean Manufacturing

  • Experience designing Jigs & fixtures for part pre and board assembly, secondary operations

  • Proficient in Computer aided design (CAD)

  • IPC 610A certified

  • Experience in Printed Circuit Board panelization

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
