The GBS Intermediate Collections Associate performs collection responsibilities according to established procedures for various types of customers. This associate impacts the organization by: improving cash flow, minimizing delinquency, reducing Days Sales Outstanding, and limiting bad debt exposure. This position requires extensive contact with customers, outside agencies, and internal departments concerning those issues impacting payment. Knowledge of multiple products, services, or business units may be required.
The Intermediate Collections Associate must be highly organized, self-motivated, and willing to work in a highly measured, fast-paced environment.
Other Duties
Provide superior customer service
Identify, prioritize, and resolve complex issues, which can delay payment
Develop, create, and analyze collection and accounts receivable reports
Update customer and other stakeholder information using various software programs, including UPS proprietary programs
Monitor and maintain assigned customer accounts
Submit recommendations to write-off account balances
Participate in conference calls
Minimum Qualifications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively and professionally present information and respond to questions
Strong organizational and prioritization skills
Problem solving skills, requiring advanced research and root cause analysis techniques
Basic negotiation skills
Desire to work in a position requiring extensive phone and email communication
Ability to work in a highly measured, fast-paced, production environment
Preferred Competencies
Prior phone center and/or collections experience
Bachelor’s Degree – Business related field preferred
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications
Experience handling objections and gaining commitment
Knowledge of UPS billing, accounts receivable, brokerage, and collections systems and procedures
