Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY: The Commercial Portfolio Manager will partner with assigned Relationship Managers (RMs) and their loan portfolios, ensuring that acceptable credit standards and loan policy guidelines are followed. They will assist in properly structuring deposit and loan facilities to meet the unique needs and desires of the client. This position will have a small loan portfolio directly assigned to them in addition to regular duties.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Supports individual loan portfolio in all activities and teams with other SFB bankers to maximize existing relationships based on customer need.

  • Ensures that all needed data and information is received in accordance with policy & compliance.

  • Facilitates the preparation of credit underwriting and analysis of loans in connection with new loan requests, renewals, & modifications.

  • On loans up to a specified size, will review the financial condition of existing customers by analyzing financial statements and tax returns, evaluating their ability to repay, and analyzing collateral position.

  • Completes loan presentations as needed for loan requests and/ or annual reviews.

  • Corresponds with/or interviews applicant or creditor to resolve questions regarding application information.

  • Assists in managing past dues and maturing loans.

  • Ensures loan agreements are complete and accurate according to policy. Assures timely loan closing and funding activities.

  • Able to work collaboratively to get their assigned loan credits through the proper channels in the Credit Analyst department and CLS department in a timely basis.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Understands & assists in the use of various government programs when deemed necessary to meet customers credit needs.

  • Participates in collection procedures/processes and/or workout, when necessary.

  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Education


  • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination education and experience.

  • Formal Credit training, either prior to, or within 6 months after being assigned to this position.

Experience


  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in banking.

  • Credit underwriting experience of more than one year is preferred, but not required.

Other Skills and Abilities


  • Strong interpersonal skills are required. Sales skills is a plus. Must thrive in meeting the financial needs of clients and possess the ability to work effectively and non-defensively with clients and staff members.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of cash flow, credit, and evaluating collateral.

  • Knowledge of general banking and industry trends, risks, etc.

  • Working knowledge of loan documentation, deposit products and other bank services as well as loan policies and procedures.

  • Effective problem solving and decision making skills.

  • Maintain the integrity of highly confidential customer and Bank financial information.

  • Deal effectively with deadline pressures and stress.

PERFORMANCE MEASURES:


  • Meets or exceeds annual goals as pre-established by the Eau Claire Market President and Director of Commercial/Ag Banking.

  • Meets all TE and past due loan goals.

  • Effectiveness of communications and development of good working relationships with co-workers and customers.

WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Work is performed largely within the Bank with limited chance for personal injury. Prolonged and frequent mental and visual concentration is required. Periodic stressful situations in response to multiple priorities within established deadlines. Work hours are generally during normal business hours. Unscheduled evening and weekend work may be needed to meet the needs of customers and employees.

  • Occasional travel between offices, client visits, and out-of-town/overnight travel may be required.

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 20 pounds of office supplies and equipment. Some bending, turning, and twisting required.

  • Serves as a representative of the organization at appropriate functions.
