100-Prep - Maintenance 3

About the Position

As the Maintenance Technician this role
will consist primarily of performing repairs and maintenance to the building
and operational equipment.

Specific Responsibilities

• Routine maintenance and repairs on equipment such as
  heating and A/C units, and blowers;
  
  


• General building maintenance such as replacing light
  bulbs, ceiling tiles and painting;
  
  


• General preparation; equipment maintenance and repair;
  
  


• Plumbing and carpentry work;
  
  


• General grounds keeping duties;
  
  


• Maintain adequate stock of equipment spare parts;
  
  


• Keep all maintenance log books and service records up
  to date;
  
  


• Use correct methods in accordance with the established
  procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
  
  


• Observe established safety regulations and comply with
  all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
  
  


• Other duties as assigned.
  
  

• Strong mechanical aptitude;
  
  


• Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  
  


• Strong command of the English language;
  
  


• Strong interpersonal skills;
  
  


• Excellent problem solving skills;
  
  


• Ability to work under general supervision;
  
  


• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  
  

• Grade 12 diploma preferred or equivalent experience;
  
  


• Experience in general building repairs and operations;
  
  


• Experience working with plumbing, carpentry, drywall
  and/or painting;
  
  


• Experience working with sample prep equipment;
  
  


• Forklift certificate or experience.
  
  

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand for long periods of time;
  
  


• Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work,
  which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;
  
  


• Ability to lift up to 50lbs;
  
  


• Ability to work in a hot and dusty environment;
  
  


• Comfortable in environments with high noise levels;
  
  


• Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks;
  
  


• Extensive walking or movement, bending, kneeling, and
  working with machines;
