This position has core day shift hours. Hours will be off-set with the other Quality technician on staff. Responsibility to verify product conformity to internal and external customer requirements and directly support the Quality department in the Fort Scott plant by determining root cause for quality issues, developing & maintaining quality documentation, and performing equipment verifications.


  • Perform dimensional, cosmetic, functional, and analytical inspection of belts and component materials using destructive and nondestructive test procedures at any point of the process
  • Visually and tactually examines items for defects, such as cracks, and breaks.
  • Records inspection and testing data.
  • Monitor the manufacturing process against established controls
  • Provide support and guidance to Production Associates including Facilitators, in matters pertaining to process and product quality with an emphasis on meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
  • Set up and operate micrometers, calipers, and electronic gauges as well as computerized and conventional inspection equipment to monitor the dimensional characteristics of the belt
  • Audits the quality of current molds
  • Prepare samples for required test and analysis, assist in processing customer returns and credits, sample inspection
  • Process and ship customer samples with required supporting data
  • Review and analyze all Specifications and Product Change Notifications prior to introduction to production for compatibility with existing process capabilities
  • Conduct capability studies, design of experiments and factory production trial runs to determine feasibility of cost improvement and quality improvement
  • Computes percentages or averages, using formulas and calculator, and prepares reports of inspection or test findings
  • Responsible for assisting the Associate Quality Analyst in maintaining ISO 9001 certification
  • Complete all required Quality reports for documentation of compliance with checking and test procedures
  • Additional special assignments such as procedure writing and special testing etc. on as needed basis
  • May bundle or pack goods for shipment either to customer or to the Tech Center for additional testing
  • Audits work activities in production to verify conformance of activities to quality assurance standards, applying knowledge of product processing specifications
  • Obtains quality assurance personnel check list ask questions pertaining to job functions
  • Reads processing sheets, and specification sheets, to verify that records adhere to quality assurance specifications
  • Observes worker using equipment to verify that equipment is being operated and maintained according to quality assurance standards
  • Complete audit form and submits audit report
  • Notifies production or specified personnel of deviations from specifications, machine malfunctions, or need for equipment maintenance
  • Responsible and authority for controlling quality
  • Maintain a good safe work environment
  • Sustain a satisfactory attendance and follows policies and procedures

  • Customer return receiving and supporting data preparation
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must be able to fill out forms properly
  • Must work independently
  • Must have high school diploma or GED
