The Facilities Maintenance Crew Leader is responsible for supervising, directing, coordinating and planning the work of the Facilities Maintenance crew assigned to work under their direction. The role is responsible to provide safe and efficient execution of assigned work as scheduled, monitor crew time, and appropriate response to emergencies. Rotational shift and weekend work will be required.

The role is responsible to provide safe and efficient execution of assigned work as scheduled, monitor crew time, and appropriate response to emergencies. Rotational shift and weekend work will be required.

Major activities:


  • Plan and assign work to include repair of Crucibles, sheet metal repairs to buildings, floor brick repair, fabrication of wood parts, refractory repair, scaffold construction and concrete work.

  • Lead safety pre-job reviews as well as observations of work executed on shift.

  • Acts to maximize the productivity and quality of the work assigned to their work force and gives prompt attention to emergency jobs.

  • Submits accurate reports of work execution activities.

  • Administers company policies as they relate to assigned personnel.

  • Maintains close liaison with production, support groups, other maintenance planners, engineers and other crew leaders.

Required Knowledge and Skills:


  • High school diploma/GED required.

  • 2 years of experience in heavy industry (aluminum, steel, mining, paper/pulp, etc.).

  • 2 years of experience performing maintenance of facilities and infrastructure.

  • Experience utilizing a CMMS.

  • 1 year of experience utilizing process data to troubleshoot equipment issues

  • Strong knowledge of material conveying systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, codes and standards.

  • Ability to work with and lead craft.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to work on other shifts and/or come in early or stay late as needed.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills will be required.

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products
