Job Description:

Responsible for leading the functions of identifying, evaluating, mitigating, and monitoring the agency’s risk management program. Develops risk management tools and practices to analyze and report on risk exposures according to a risk management framework and relevant policies. Ensures the organization's risk management policies and strategies are in compliance with applicable regulations and strategic imperatives of the organization. Responsible for overseeing all business continuity activities of the organization, as well as the agency’s workers’ compensation program.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Lead risk management for the entire organization at HQ as well as numerous sites and program locations; developing appropriate plans/processes for each. 

  • Design and implement an overall risk management plan for the organization to include: continually updating the agency’s risk ‘heat mapping;’ triaging greatest and most likely risks for the organization, developing a risk mitigation implementation plan for each of these most likely/greatest risks; leading the execution of the implementation steps, working closely with designated lead personnel to ensure that they are completed and tested.

  • Drive and deliver Business Continuity commitment, support, ownership, accountability and results. 

  • Design, build, and implement standard Risk Assessment, Business Impact Analysis, and other Business Continuity tools and capabilities. 

  • Coordinate training, communication, and testing of Business Continuity and associated contingency planning. 

  • Direct the continuous and regular validation and testing of documented Business Continuity plans.

  • Work closely with Chief HR Officer and Marketing & Communications staff on messaging during an event happen or in the context of claims/litigation.

  • Conduct policy and compliance audits, which will include liaising with internal and external auditors; periodically perform risk assessments and evaluations, including tabletop exercises and active drills on a regular basis. 

  • Foster risk awareness among staff by providing support of health and safety measures and training within the organization.

  • Operationalize programs, policies, and procedures for reporting, investigation, and analysis of claims and litigation management.

  • Work closely with the Workers’ Compensation Coordinator regarding the administration of the Workers' Compensation program as it affects risk management and safety training.

  • Formulate, develop, and coordinate safety and loss control functions for the organization.

  • Design and direct a program to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to health hazards through safety training of supervisors and employees, first-aid care, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, new employee orientation, physical protection, and rules and practices. 

  • Maintain records and reports in compliance with governmental regulatory agency requirements. 

  • Review any new major contracts or internal business proposals; analyze and identifying potential risks affecting the agency.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE



  • Bachelors’ degree in Business or Risk Management, or equivalent similar degree or experience, required

  • At least 5 years of insurance and risk management experience, with at least 3 years of leading an organization’s risk management program

  • Strong with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
