Position Summary:

The Affordable Lending Area Manager is responsible for carrying out strategic initiatives that support the Western Region. Under direction from the VP, Western Region and VP of Strategic Markets, the individual in this role will support the existing Team and source, recruit and hire additional qualified Loan Originators. This individual will develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with business line leaders across the Region, as well as Realtors, Builders, industry trade organizations, community groups and non-profit organizations. The individual must develop a clear understanding of the affordable lending dynamics of their assigned market territory.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Individual is expected to source and recruit qualified Loan Originators.


  • Individual will:
    o Assist direct reports with structuring loan applications to meet the needs of the customers.
    o Ensure that all direct reports adhere to all compliance and regulatory guidelines.
    o Assist with the onboarding and training of new LO's.
    o Work closely with operations partners to identify opportunities to improve loan quality and cycle times.
    o Effectively and proactively coach low performing LO's to meet minimum production expectations.


  • Cultivate existing relationships and the development of new ones with Realtors, industry trade organizations & non-profit agencies.


  • Participation in the local communities outreach events, within assigned market.


  • Participate in Financial Literacy events. These events can be Wintrust Mortgage sponsored or done in collaboration with one of our partners.

    Job Requirements:


  • High School or equivalent degree.

  • Must meet all NMLS requirements.

  • Must be knowledgeable of affordable lending programs and products

  • Must be willing to engage with non-profit housing agencies and mortgage trade agencies

  • Must have superior interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Must be a self-starter, motivated, energetic, with excellent time-management skills.

  • Minimum of 5 years mortgage banking experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience with successful recruiting.

  • Must be willing to travel to assigned markets
