Job Description:

ARA is seeking an experienced staff office administrator to work full-time for our Mid-Atlantic Division. The division has its headquarters in Elkridge, Maryland; satellite offices in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, and Vicksburg, Mississippi; and field staff deployed on both short- and long-term assignments throughout the U.S.

What you will do as a staff office administrator:


  • Work closely with the Division Manager, Group Leaders, and project managers to ensure the division functions efficiently and effectively. Coordinate as needed with HR, accounting, and other administrative staff in other division offices and the Transportation, Infrastructure & Energy (TIE) Sector office.

  • Assist employees with HR-related questions and concerns. Conduct new hire on-boarding and process employee separations. Provide new employee training on electronic timesheet and HR systems.

  • Assist employees with questions related to purchasing and travel expenses. Make travel arrangements as requested, including conference registrations.

  • Serve as office manager, including reception, correspondence, coordinating meetings and office morale functions, ordering supplies, maintaining office equipment, and coordinating with vendors for janitorial, equipment repairs, and the like.

Staff office administrator requirements:


  • Bachelors or better in Business Administration or a related field.

  • 2+ years of progressively responsible office administration experience. 5+ years of experience preferred.

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Detail oriented, well organized, and able to multi-task in a busy office environment.

  • Willing to learn new tasks and take initiative.

  • General office skills such as copying, scanning, filing, shipping, email, and multi-line telephone.
