Job Description:

Serve as the product subject matter expert for blood glucose monitoring products, lancets and PT/INR testing, combined the largest GM $ product portfolio in the Diagnostics division. Accountable for strategy and execution of sourcing, marketing, new product development, sales support and the gross margin dollar growth of these categories with primary focus on growing sales in the Managed Care market. Influence and train sales forces to focus on and confidently sell these products to customers. Manage one Associate Product Manager and act as a peer leader within the division.

Responsibilities


  • Work with sales to develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans and promotional programs (such as promo presentations) for new and existing products.
  • Own all aspects of brand management for the blood glucose, lancet and PT/INR categories, including pricing strategy, collateral creation, and field sales training for new and existing product lines. Act as the point-person for the division when Diagnostics is selected for Post Acute Promo.
  • Review monthly financial reports and determine contributing factors to performance. Based on insights, offer solutions to detrimental sales or cost trends. Manage inventory by focusing on eliminating surplus and optimizing SKU count while improving service levels.
  • Work with buyers in the Shanghai office to reduce Cost of Goods by assessing packaging, alternate materials, new sources, freight terms, etc. Have business reviews with vendors to address open issues, such as quality or price, and to develop new product lines.
  • Analyze and bid on GPO and/or IDN contracts for assigned product categories
  • Target Medline accounts that are still using competitor-branded products and drive conversions through cross-referencing, pricing, and sampling/in-servicing the product(s).
  • Understand customer and sales force needs via rep feedback, customer feedback, and field travel and translate that research into new products, product improvements, or line extensions
  • Travel with sales force to support efforts to convert customers to purchase Medline products. Provide timely follow up to sales forces by answering product questions via e-mail and phone.
  • Develop and mentor direct reports through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; build and maintain employee morale and motivation; ensure the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies.
  • Collaborate with sales and division management to develop short term and long term strategies for sustained double-digit profitability growth year over year.

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • MBA desired

Relevant Work Experience

  • At least 5 years experience in marketing, sales, product management or clinical practice in the healthcare industry.
  • Experience negotiating with outside vendors and internal resources.
  • Experience collecting and analyzing financial data.

Additional

  • Willing to travel up to 20% of the time for business purposes (within state, out of state and international).
  • Experience marketing or selling to the Managed Care market.
  • Experience managing or selling diabetic testing supplies desired.
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: applying a theme, formatting character spacing, inserting a picture, changing slide layout and theme colors, adding transitions, customizing slide numbers, changing chart style and/or formatting font).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).
