Essential Functions:


  • Test, inspect, repair, troubleshoot and re-assemble basic plant equipment, components, and systems including but not limited to pneumatic and mechanical systems, oven and boiler systems and electrical and hydraulic systems.

  • Perform basic electrical work, and assist in highly skilled electrical work.

  • Communicate with supervisor and other maintenance and production team members.

  • Responsible for working with small hand tools including tape measures, saws, drills and maintaining tools and equipment.

  • Ability to fabricate and repair structures and components

  • Inspects and maintains all safety equipment and complies with company safety policies.

  • Participates in Continuous Improvement projects and tasks.

  • Must be able to pass company on-site forklift test.

Other Important Details about the Role:


  • This position reports to the Maintenance Manager and has no direct reports.

  • Minor metal fabrication using welding and cutting tools.

  • Performs basic electrical work and assists in highly skilled electrical work.

  • Performs basic repairs to building HVAC and paint booth ventilation systems.

  • Inspects and maintains parking lot including some snow removal

  • Performs preventative maintenance and basic repairs of forklifts.

  • Assist in general plant clean up and housekeeping.

  • Do the right thing, even when no one is watching.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):


  • No degree, one to three years of related experience.

  • The ability to read and follow written and verbal instruction in English.

  • Proficient with Microsoft, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Proactively seeks solutions to resolve unexpected challenges. Actively assists other without formal/informal direction.

  • Actively listens and understands assigned tasks and communicates issues or concerns to supervisor and/or peers.

  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • To safely and urgently support all production and facility needs and follows through on given tasks.

  • The ability to work overtime as needed.

  • Balances team and individual responsibilities; exhibits objectivity and openness to others' view; gives and welcomes feedback.

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:


  • The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals

  • The ability to interpret and fabricate components based on basic blueprints or specification sheets.

  • The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to support divisional business objectives

  • One year of experience with basic welding/fabricating, basic troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Industrial boiler certification.

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

All of the working conditions for this position is in a manufacturing shop environment with exposure to dirt, grease, fumes, cold, heat, noise, dust. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic and safety safeguards such as hearing protection and respirator & paint equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds in working with large containers for paint and equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
