Your Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer in the John Deere Order Management (OM) program, you will get a unique opportunity to work on a large-scale global web application in a Fortune 500 company that is regularly ranked among the best companies to work for in the country. This position will be on the OM Build & Price team which was among the first in the company to adopt the new Global IT Agile Operating Model (AOM). The opportunities afforded this position go well beyond the traditional design, development, testing, and delivering of new features but also include exposure to a modern tech stack, automated test frameworks, CI/CD, code scanning, pairing, and fully peer-reviewed code. The person filling this position will not be expected to be an expert in all technologies on day 1 but should come with an insatiable desire to learn and grow. Major duties include:


  • Develop, code, configure, and test programs and systems
  • Evaluate and implement enhancement design solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance of software applications
  • Analyze assignments and determines software specifications that must be fulfilled to achieve objectives
  • Collaborate with other relevant stakeholders and team members to ensure that features meet business needs
  • Follow industry-standard agile software design methodology for development and documentation
  • Mentor junior software engineers within the team and across multiple products
  • Lead engineering practices alongside engineering manager

Proven Technical Skills and Experiences


  • Proven experience in the design, development, testing and integration of high complex software solutions leveraging change management

    • React framework expertise including (JavaScript, CSS, and HTML)
    • Java web development with Sprint and RESTful APIs

  • Deep experience with software test automation (TDD and Unit Testing Frameworks: Junit, Mockito, Puppeteer)
  • Proven experience leveraging DevSecOps and lean development principles such as Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery such as GitHub and Jenkins pipelines including Linux, Groovy, vulnerability scanning, etc.
  • Moderate AWS infrastructure expertise
  • Hands on exposure to various database technologies (e.g. SQL Server, MongoDB, SAP HANA, DocumentDB, PostgreSQL, DB2, Hibernate, NoSQL)
  • Proven experience working in an Agile/Scrum team environment
  • Working understanding of public-facing web application security
  • Ability to apply engineering principles and industry best practices to design patterns
  • Working knowledge of Deere internal systems including RBAC, UUC, AccountFlex, DPA, SAP landscapes

  • Capable of collaborating with multiple business stakeholders to provide information technology solutions
  • Skilled in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution
  • Proven experience working in a team environment

Education


  • Bachelor's degree in IT/Computer Science/Engineering
