BASIC PURPOSE:  To enhance the quality of life of our residents by providing high quality cleaning service, laundry assistance and job performance in a cheerful, timely manner and by communicating, coordinating, supervising and cooperating with others to attain and carry out the Campus Mission, Vision and Values.

JOB SUMMARY: Supervise housekeeping team, hold housekeepers accountable for duties, assign work on a daily basis, create housekeepers’ work schedules, maintain cleaning service assignment, ensure regulatory guidelines and facility policies are followed, ensure staff receives required education and training, serve as laundry designee to facilitate the location and recovery of lost clothing.

Supervisor will have a daily assignment of common areas, and when the department is short, the supervisor is expected to pick up that assignment. Supervisor will have some weekend responsibilities. To ensure quality, the Supervisor will be required to perform daily audits of each assignment. The Supervisor will also attend morning meeting and be in constant communication with Admissions and Nursing to ensure that, he or she is up to date on all census changes. The supervisor is also in charge of ensuring that all deep cleans happen in a timely fashion, and is expected to help the housekeeper on that unit with any deep clean.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must be flexible and able to collaborate with other departments to schedule room cleaning and other immediate cleaning needs, while maintaining housekeeping assignment


2. Must be able to communicate in English


3. Communication, supervisory and interpersonal skills to foster teamwork within department


4. Must be able to use tools and equipment required.


5. Must complete all mandatory education and training programs


6. Must keep records of MSDS sheets, staff schedules


7. Must train and education new hires on job requirements, facility policies and regulations.


8. Must collaborate with other departments and laundry company to locate, label and return missing laundry

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Carrying and lifting –25 lbs.


2. Based on an 8 hour shift: Standing 2 hours per shift; Walking: 6 hours per shift


3. Bending, stooping, twisting involved with cleaning beds, floors, furniture, bathrooms


4. Employee must be deemed by a physician to be medically able to perform the duties for the position.


5. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and TB test.


6. Must follow precautions when using cleaning chemicals.


7. Exposure to blood/bodily fluids.


8. Varying temperatures—walking from building to building in winter and summer months
