Job Description:

In 1985, Koch Foods started as a one-room chicken de-boning and cutting operation with 13 employees. We’ve grown to be one of the top poultry processors in the U.S., but the core of who we are remains unchanged: a team that is adept, reliable and service oriented.

Job Summary:

Forklift Operators operate walkie-rider, stand-up reach, stand-up counter-balanced, and stock-picker lift trucks safely while loading and unloading materials and deliveries, and moving product within the facility, docks trucks and storage facilities.

1st Shift: 6:00 am – 2:30 pm with a starting pay rate of $15.00/hour

2nd Shift: 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm with a starting pay rate of $15.50/hour

3rd Shift: 10:00 pm – 6:30 am with a starting pay rate of $16.00/hour

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Transport material and equipment throughout facility using production and shipping schedules

  • Unload and load trailers and straight trucks

  • Move packaged product on pallets and crates throughout facility

  • Stack product in storage bays, following inventory control instructions

  • Ensure secure loads

  • Complete Daily Operator’s Checklist for each lift truck used each shift

  • Perform daily equipment checks ensuring truck batteries are charged and lubricated

  • Visually inspect all goods presented by carriers for delivery to ensure only materials in sound packaging, good condition, and suitable for receipt and storage are accepted

  • Inspect all finished goods prior to loading for shipment to ensure all pallets and packaging are in excellent condition suitable for shipment

  • Complete all receiving and shipping documents accurately and completely

  • Use RF guns to accurately scan inventory to receive materials against PO’s, to update inventory locations, to scan verify orders as picked, and to perform other inventory transactions

  • Cover all inbound materials with plastic and stretch-wrap as needed and per SOP or to maintain product integrity

  • Maintain docks, freezer, equipment, and storage zones in clean order with general housekeeping, sweeping, rinsing, squeegee, and light scrubbing

  • All other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:


  • Knowledge of and ability to operate forklift

  • Basic math and reading skills

  • Comply with Company and Safety policies and procedures

  • Good attendance

  • Able to operate heavy and complex equipment requiring skill and the exercise of independent judgment

  • Basic knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in daily operation of forklift 

  • Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations

Physical/Environmental Factors:


  • Lift up to 80 lbs. on occasion

  • Cold, damp, wet environment with temperatures ranging from 40 to 90 degrees

  • Stand/walk throughout work day.

  • Exposure to noise levels greater than 85 decibels

  • Bend, stoop, and lift various weights as needed

  • Climb stairs, frequently stoop, kneel, crawl and bend

  • Exposure to strong, raw odors

  • Bending, twisting, stacking, pushing and standing for long periods of time

  • Manual dexterity of hands and wrists
